For mealy bugs and spider mites I use LADA imidicloprid drench and LUCID abamectin spray. I use liquids, both are ROTAM brand. Abamectin is a really good insecticide/miticide.

Fungus gnats are dead easy to get rid of. They are related to mosquitoes, so I put mosquito dunks in my greenhouse pond, wait two days, then use the water to water my plants. Kills the fungus gnat larvae in the soil.

Good Evening, I am posting a thread for friends to join in and share their advice or experience with insects such as, Aphids, Mealybugs, Whiteflies, etc.. That are causing sooty mold on our Fruit Trees. This is a perpetual problem that I would like to try to figure out the best solution to manage. At this point I am way past using "neem" as it never works or lasts. I am reading about imidacloprid insecticide, does anyone have any experience with this and if it is worth a try, via soil drench or foliar spray. Ideas, Thoughts, Concerns?

You gotta collect female pollen, usually at night, and separate from all other plant material. Put in sealed small container with desiccant pack, and keep in fridge til the following night or next couple of nights. Then use paint brush to pollinate female flowers.  All flowers start off female, then turn male.

You can break off a wing/petal of the flower to better get inside of female flowers, which should only be barely open. If a flower has fully opened, it is male.

Is the Desiccant pack an absolutely necessary step?

Got my monkey orange today.  Nice size, was wrapped professionally,  plant arrived in perfect.  An overall excellent buying experience for anyone interested in his selection.
By the way, is monkey orange self fertile?

Great to hear! I do believe the Monkey Orange is self fertile, as the tree I harvested the seeds from does not have any other trees nearby.

I have seedlings for sale as well if anyone is interested.

on the higher price side but still reasonable in my opinion as the seeds took about 10 months to sprout up, also had to have them imported from indonesia.

picture shown is of a kepel on the smaller side. I like to under promise and over deliver, seedlings are slightly larger than image shown.

Have you rooted the cinnamon cuttings before?  What kind of success rates are you getting?  Also, do you sell fresh seeds or small seedlings?

I have rooted them using clonex, they are more difficult than most but do able if you have good shade, high humidity, and never let the soil dry out.

Out of the 45 ish trees I got from the December Group Order, 7 are looking like they have a fighting Chance. We will see

I got a green sapote cultivar from a really nice grower in South FL....it's called Whitman...I suppose old Willy Whitman had it....notorious for getting the best of the best if he could....I've also heard there was a study done on the brix level, of the fruits of this cultivar "whitman", and it was off the meat rack sweet!!!

I am willing to share budwood at a later date, but my two trees need to grow a little before I cut them...so maybe ready to distribute budwood in August of this year, fruit Gods willing...

How is your green sapote doing? Has it fruited for you ?

I have Ficus Sycomorus, probably one of the only few in Florida, its a small tree about 3ft tall but could probably swing a couple cutting for you
