Are you looking for named scion?  I have flowering female seedling - I would be willing to trade - if you let me know what you have for trading.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Wanted: Male Yangmei Scions
« on: February 25, 2024, 11:28:42 AM »
Hello.  Does anyone have any  Male Yangmei Scions for sale.  I can also trade female scions as my seedling is a female.    I could  trade one Crystal scion.  My yangmei seedling is flowering for first time this year and also a Crystal graft but I don't have a male yet, so I would like to get a male to graft on so I can have fruit next year.

Are you interested in cuttings? I have a plant that I could easily take plenty of cuttings from.  I am always trimming it back.    I have been able to root it from cutting before but don't have any rooted right now.

Plant arrived in great condition and the packaging was the best I have ever seen.  Thanks.

Scions arrive today - nicely wrapped and good sizes.

55 and 73

I would also recommend Quarry lakes.   Also look into Whiskey Hill Farms - they do work days in the greenhouse every Saturday 10-4

How about ugni molinae.  They look nice all year and will help cover the unit.

It seems so strange your the city would complain as California is pushing the removal of turf.  I used the state program for rebate to remove my lawn and cover my front yard with mulch and drought tolerant plants.    I did use large river rock as edging between the mulch and the sidewalk.  It helps keep mulch in the yard and gives a more finished look.    You could also look up some of the other cases where there were issues with garden in front yards and how they were resolved.   I remember hearing Sacramento change their code to have edibles allowable in the front yard.

I got my seed from fresh fruit.   I put it on a heat mat for a little while but then put it outside in the cold for the winter when I need room for more tropical plants on the heat mat.    It took 8 months.

I will definitely be up for trading scions when we find out which sex we have - I am assuming in about 5 or so years:).   Have your seedlings M. rubra from Hawaii flowered yet, seems like they should be close if they are around 6 years old.

Manage to get 2 before they sold out - I will hope one is male and other is female - not the greatest odds.

Scions arrived in great condition.  Grafting went well and they are pushing out leaves and flower buds.    Should I nip off the flower buds now or will they just fall off on their own?

Is there a good time to do the pruning to keep it small?  Usually I prune tress after they fruit; however, sapote was growing so much I end up pruning it the other week while it is still flowering and setting fruit.
