oh, and there are suckers growing on the cherimoya rootstock, will this affect the ilama in anyway?

8
I think they are also dioecious, so you'd have to buy at least 5 to get that rare female.

9
do they love shade?

If so, can they be grown indoors with little to no light?

does anyone know what this damage could be caused by?
Notice the browning of the edges and new leaf

I'm in zone 10b
could also be the cold nights but I'm not sure

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: annona flowers not setting fruit
« on: May 29, 2022, 09:12:41 PM »
The problem has resolved itself. Random annona fruit buds have appeared on my tree that I have not pollinated. I have no idea how since annona pollinators aren't found in california, but I'm not complaining.

I had a few red ilama plants. About two months old. One after the they were infested with fungii. I read in sites tgat for ilama anona glabra is a good rootstock. I hithed(fused)them to glabra plants. Wonderful. Now they are growing with huge leaves and vigorously. I do that with other anonas too

do they like full sun?

Will they survive year round outside? I'm in zone 10b

15
Sometimes I hate being in california, always need a phytosanitary certificate and those cost 100

16
Crap, they're evolving.

17
I would, but the 50 dollar minimum requirement is a repellent for me

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Rose apple (pomarosa) flowering
« on: May 22, 2022, 11:27:50 AM »
I'd planted a Rose apple (probably from seed) for 4 years. The trunk is almost 2" but no flower yet; how old is your tree?

I actually bought my tree from a seller near me, but just fron eyeing it I would say its about 4-6 years old

That happens with my wax apple so it's probably a normal thing.
how long do they normally take to start swelling?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Rose apple (pomarosa) flowering
« on: May 20, 2022, 12:06:07 AM »
this is the first time it has flowered, but I have no idea how the flowers work(how they pollinate or give fruit). I left the first set of flowers alone and only the bud of the fruit is currently on the tree, it has been 1 month with no swelling of the fruit bud, its just there. some have fallen off but thats just about it.

is it normal for rose apples?

ne
flowers currently on the tree

fruit buds that haven't changed in a month and a half

fruit its supposed to give

21
Not even my atemoyas I've hand pollinated give fruit and I have no idea why.

22
Thatís a weird thing to say, maybe they do not understand how Annona defoliation works?
Iíve seen Rollinia fruiting in Goleta, so it is possible anywhere south of that.
It can be done.
Rollina is also extremely variable from seed with a wide native range and genetic pool and no named or known selections that can be traced somewhere .
Finding the region in Central America or South America that has the most cold adapted Rollinia Deliciosa is a worthy search.

I heard in a fruit&spice park tour the lady said the Rollinia is the hardiest Annona there. So maybe planting a Rollinia in SoCal near a pond or something to increase humidity could work

here in orange, humidity usually doesnt go above 50 percent while goleta has pretty high humidity, about 70 percent.

23
Nut in the picture looks like a macadamia nut

24
Ah crap.
I ordered a few annona conica seeds in hopes that they would fruit one day.
guess not.

25
Guess im the only one then
