Jsvand5, I meant to reply to your post too.  You live closer to Ocala or Brooksville right?  If so, I think you should have very good sucess with these tree's as you get more chill than I do.

I will probably try it soon. Might wait to see if I am going to be at this house for much longer. Might have o move with in the next year.

Has your Mayong Chid put put out flowers yet this year? Mine is loaded right now. Hoping to get to try a few more fruit this year.

While in PR, a few of us purchased some grafted garcinias...lemon drop, achachairu, madruno(?).  The grafts all look wonderful but the plants themselves are nothing short of unimpressive.  While the grafted achachairu does put out some growth now and then, the lemon drop has yet to honor me with a single new leaf.  My seedling plants of each far out grow them.  I seriously doubt that the grafted ones will fruit any sooner than the seedling plants.  But of course we still had to purchase them!  Now if that nursery really wanted to impress me...they would have male/female grafted cherapu available!!

Speaking of cherapu...Oscar...what is the status of your flowering plant?  Any hint of fruit forming?

Same here on my grafted achachairu. Tree looks fine but has not put out a single leaf since it was sent to me.

I have a few flowers on mine now too. It's way too small to fruit though.

Definitely interested in your results. I have been close to pulling the trigger on cherries for about 3 years now. Just don't have any room in the yard until I rip out more of these useless citrus trees.

I have achachairu, one grafted and a few seedlings. Biggest seedling is about 3-4 ft.
Madruno, just a few seedlings. Biggest is also about 4 ft.
Mexican Garcinia, A bunch of first year seedling. about 6 inches or so.

All of these have seen temps down to around 32 with mo protection. Even the little Mexican Garcinia seedlings.

I gave up on mangosteen. Killed one grafted one and many large seedlings. After about $300 worth of failure I called it a day.

Taste is obviously number one for me, but a tree that will produce well without having to spray it all the time is a close second.
