Does Nauclea latifolia root easily from cutting?

52
I have a couple nice 3 gal ones, but wouldn’t be able to ship.  I’m on East coast, Melbourne area.

Yeah, I’ve had the tea before (Ilex vomitoria), just not done it myself.

These guys sell it commercially-

Awesome post.  Is there more info available on those cultivars?  Do you sell pineapples to the public?

I have a decent few pineapple plants, but haven’t really been growing them with much vigor.  I gotta learn how to get them going strong and would like to collect all of these varieties.

Awesome quality.

Wanted to say thank you, bought a handful of seeds probably few weeks back now and they all arrived looking awesome, many had germinated already or soon germinated in the bag after receipt.  I got a bunch of seeds from a few different eugenia varieties and all but one seed has been planted out and has sprouted.  I imagine the last one hopefully will germinate soon, but I can’t even complain if that’s the only one that doesn’t.

Thanks for making this stuff available.

58
All good, no worries, glad you got some good mangoes and making seeds available.  I was just curious.

59
$10 for the lot?

60
Got mine today, look great, thanks!

You recommend germinating in bag first or just plant em out?

Got the abiu seeds, looked great, just planted em out.

Great seller, super simple transaction, much appreciated on offering these.

Thank you!

Just got mine. Above and beyond, man, these got here pretty quickly and looked amazing.  I just potted out most.

You rock, thanks again!

I have two large Ilex Guayusa mother plants I grow here in Florida. Haven't had any luck propagating them, or getting any seeds.

Nice!  Is that one any more difficult to keep?

I have our native yaupon and I’ve got a Yerba mate.  I was able to propagate the Yerba mate from cuttings, idk if I had a lot of failures or not as sometimes I just go around cutting stuff and sticking the stems in pots, I discovered I had a small plant growing recently and it’s grown pretty quickly as I recently up potted to 1gal.

The native yaupon holly and the Yerba mate are both super easy to keep here in FL.
I’ve never processed for tea, is it a lot of work?  I am guessing roll em, dry em, etc; but never tried would love to hear from someone who’s done it before.

64
Yes, lots of them.

Got my seeds quick and they look like they’re in great condition.  Can’t decide if I wanna germinate em in the bag first or just go ahead and pot them out.

Thanks again, def recommend and will probably buy more in the future.

Thanks for letting me know, they are hit or miss.  I was hoping to snag 5 of those hombronianas if still available.

Received your PM, thank you!

Awesome!  Sent PM.

Unfortunately it didn't go through. PMs are very hit and miss still it seems.
I sent you one, let me know if you got it.

Yeah, I’ve been getting about 50% success on the PMs.  I wanted to grab some of those abiu seeds, I’m going to try responding to your PM now.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Is a black sapote tree worth having?
« on: July 07, 2022, 11:34:43 PM »
Its not even related to sapotes, Chocolate Persimmon a better name. The ripe fruit is full of potassium and carbs, gives you a boost of energy while the fiber and other nutrients are great for your gut. The taste is okay but I would eat just for the healt benefits alone.

I thought you could tack “sapote” on to literally any fruit, it’s like calling every single small fruit a “cherry.”

What even would be considered true “sapote?” The Pouterias I’m guessing you mean?

I had very low hopes for black sapote fruit, but had a few over past couple years and gotta agree with most of the positive comments, they can be decently enjoyable if you know what you’re getting into.

That said, I have yet to plant one, tho I have a lot of small trees growing from those seeds, I’m not sure if I wanna put one in the ground tho… maybe.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Pitomba
« on: July 07, 2022, 11:20:27 PM »
I’ve only been getting 1-5 fruit/ year for last couple years, it fruited after 2 years in ground and was a medium sized 3gal pot tree at planting.

Unfortunately, I’ve yet to try the fruit, but birds and/or squirrels have.

Will love to hear if anyone has tips to get these things to go off.  Mine is full sun and sometimes I wonder if it wouldn’t have been happier in part shade.  Zone 10a, FL.

I have mine in full sun. Seems happiest there. I recommend using jewelry bags for fruit you want to try but keeps getting hit by birds. Works perfect. Don't know how it'll hold up for a determined squirrel.

For sure, I’m going to protect at least a few next time so I can try it.

Next to nothing stops a determined squirrel, but I feel like they have so many options they tend to let stuff be if I make it too much work.  I’ve seen chewed bags and container pics posted tho, so I’m sure I could be had by a squirrel who really had sights set on a pitomba.

Nice!  Do you have Florigon or Dwarf Hawaiian?

PM sent. Sometimes they aren’t going thru, so just let me know if not.

I also use those mosquito bits and they work great.  Only downside is they do seem to need to be added every 2-4 weeks or so.

I catch the rainwater off roof then dump it into small pond liner that my jaboticabas sit in all year.  I’d like to setup gutters and a cistern someday.

From a fruiting tree?
