We presently have one person trying to arrange financing to purchase our farm but are certainly open to other offers.  We have had a couple of people interested in our farm who don't have any farming experience and are busy with other businesses and were concerned that they could not hire someone to replace me to ensure the farm continued to be successful.  If someone here thinks that this is something they are qualified and interested in, please contact me and I can put you into contact with a potential buyer if that is something that interests them.  Sending me an email is best, my contact information is on my Figaholics website.

Yesterday was 115F and today was "only" 106F.  Naturally, now that harvest is over, we only are expected to reach 88F tomorrow!  Downright chilly, lol.  Meanwhile, in Madeira, Portugal temperatures are ranging from about 69 (lows) to 78!  The engineer with our contractor there thinks 78 is hot.

WhoaÖ did I miss something!? Whatís going on in Portugal? Is that where you are moving?!

The latest order I received were packaged in plastic clamshells and not the paper boxes theyíve been coming in. I am wondering if this was done because of the labeling issues that have been happening. There were no markings of which variety it was.

Received my order, canít wait to try them. 5 maha, 3 PC, 1 glen and 2 LZ, came in just shy of 8lbs. Thanks for offering these.

The above post is mistakenly on my thread. I am not selling PC or Glen mangos and am not shipping to Cali.

My apologies, I mixed up the post. I removed it.

Waiting on it to grow, it was indeed shipped bare root and defoliated to ship, but the bark scratched green.

Planted it under a shade draping to help it adapt. A friend also bought some and his took a month or two to take off, but then grew fast. The seller said heíd resend me one in fall if it succumbs to the heat in summer. I think they prefer to not ship during mid summer.

Do you have any pictures of the rootball?

Iím confused on Calmeiís trademark naming. Anyone else find it weird that the trademark names cover multiple varieties?

The only thing I can think of that you're talking about is the description for Eastern Giant.  A very small number of fruits sold under that name are from seedling trees that Yunfei selected that are essentially identical to Dongkui.  I don't think it's weird.

Purple pearl states that it is mostly biqi and eastern Giant states that it is mostly dongkui. I know there are trademark names for all of the fruits sold in stores, just was not sure how common it was for them to include various varieties under the same name, but maybe itís a common practice.

Do these look like sweet violet or eastern Giant?

The small dark one is labeled as purple pearl, the larger one as sweet violet but ordered as Eastern Giant.

Fruit on the right looks like Sweet Violet and fruit on left looks like Eastern Giant. Iíll suggest the shredded paper as a filler.

Simon

On right was small and listed as purple pearl. Other was marked as sweet violet.

I just let Yunfei know about the issues with the damaged fruit in the paper boxes.

Can anyone think of an environmentally friendly way to prevent jostling the fruit in the paper boxes?

At a bare minimum some shredded paper to fill the voids, cushion the fruits and prevent movement.

Got my yang order today and had the same issue of getting sweet violet instead of eastern giant. Whether they were indeed sweet violet or not, Iím not sure. I donít believe there were mixed varieties within a single box. My experience with yangmei is extremely limited up to this point, only eating a fruit on two different occasions. I felt that the flavors were a bit past prime. There wasnít any sort of ferment-y type of taste, but there was this essence of an Ďoldí type of flavor, not really sure how to describe it.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: WTB Loquat varieties.

WTB loquat varieties. So I have a few loquat trees that are larger fruiting age including a multi-graft, one Sherry (yuk), and some smaller 2 year seedlings. What are the best loquats to buy plants or scions. I know opinions differ, as does location. Looking to add at least one more larger tree, and purchase some scions? Any comments are as always appreciated.

If youíre interested in nice sized 5gal vista white which fruits, pm me. I have a few grafted with a second variety.
