Interesting, every seed of sapote mamey i purchased for eating germinated. they die in the winter here anyway. I have a one now that survived our 32f with a bucket i put over it at night.

That's what i was thinking, will watch it. If it will still look the same in a few days, i have to buy it :)
Unfortunately I won't be able to see fruits, it will be sold or something.
My soursop, covered like a mummy, still dropped leaves and fruits 3 weeks ago...

What was surprising is that 15 small soursops, 3g, in the same area were opened to wind, no protection, defoliated because of previous cold nights, and a one single tree survived even last 32f. It has to be different...

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Soursop and cold
« on: December 26, 2020, 03:54:16 PM »
Hi all! I wonder if there are different types of a. Muricata, soursop that have different cold tolerance...
My soursop drops leave when temp about 45f. Last night was 32f . Today i went to a local nursery and noticed that one of their soursops still have greenesh leaves and the rest of them dropped them long time ago.
I wonder if it's a. Montana got mixed up or there are more cold hardy muricatas. I was so tempted to buy it just for survival ability because its hard to keep my soursop happy

I have 2: fuyu and tanenashi many ears ago. I am in the north Orlando area and they both produce a lot without special care, never had bugs issues.

How big is the seedling and how many years till they fruit?
I don't know anything about them and from what i read, it takes 8-10 years to fruit...

112
How many years does it take from seed to fruit?

I want to try it because it should be more cold tolerant than muricata. I have a hard time keeping my soursop happy in winter time.

What is the cold tolerance?

122
It set 5 fruits and 3 ripened.
They were not grainy or mashy. I guess it called chewy. I surely eat them quick without much chewing :)

Mother tree of my small tree came from asian store 15 yrs ago and we we grew many trees from its seeds and they all were identical to mother tree.
We can do 3 for 3. I will use separate small shipping boxes to make sure.
