Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Help on Plinia I.D ?

Wild, well yeah Adam is the source that brought them in years ago. Your friend must have needed to prune to cut big sticks off an extremely rare tree of that rareness.
Best bet is to graft them on Myrciaria Glazioviana or maybe you can work some rooting magic.

I showed him picture of Glomerata fruit and he says his fruit is different. Maybe this is some sort of hybrid?

Just got word these seeds came from Adam “flyingfoxfruits” the fruits that come from this are red and fruited for the first time this year. He didn’t get pictures. From the thickness of the cuttings he gave me the tree must be pretty big

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Help on Plinia I.D ?

I got these cuttings from a local guy who grew it from seed. It makes red fruit and he thought it was red hybrid but I’m thinking it’s maybe a phitrantha? Big leafs that are fuzzy underneath and also the newer growth of stems is fuzzy. He says he thinks his Sabara fruit taste better.

I have learned to love my climate here in Bay Area CA. Cold enough to grow pawpaw and stone fruits but warm enough to grow starfruit outside. To me the challenge of being one of the first people to get tropical/rare things to grow here is fun. Mangos die super easy but there are people that have done it with proper care. Even heard of people getting Wax Jambu, lychee, black sapote to survive in micro climates but they do better in greenhouse. Eugenias seem to do great outside but a lot of stuff is borderline too cold. Stuff I’ve found will never get through winter without greenhouse is things like sugar apple, soursop “one of my favorite fruits :( “ Mamey sapote but green sapote has been known to survive. I’m excited to experiment with rare somewhat cold hardy annonas like globiflora, rugulosa, spinescens ect... Even in this sub tropical climate I still find my 10x12 greenhouse overfilled with tropicals. I’m 26 years old now and also hope to get property in Florida or other similar climate to fulfill my tropical obsession

They trimmed the Jaboticaba at prusch Park and I scavenged more cuttings then I have room to graft. Does anybody want to trade me something for some? Otherwise I’m just going to try to root the rest of them which isn’t likely to work. All cuttings are pencil thickness or bigger. Open to all offers

Thank you for doing this

I ordered from Anderson’s. I will be so happy if I get one to sprout

I have some large Sabaras that are not yet fruiting. Maybe 1 or 2 more years. I would love to graft scarlet scions or any more rare types onto them. Would be very happy to find peluda do mucuri “doctors jaboticaba”. It’s my birthday tomorrow and I want to buy myself present haha

Grows for me in CA 9B but I’m not sure how high humidity will affect it for your area

Thank you for your offer. Lots of people are curious how kusura coccinea tastes. Have you tasted it? I’m also curious about Annona Spinescens. I know it has pumpkin flavor but is it also Annona flavor too?

Any new information on this?

I have cherimoya grafted on glabra. Looks healthy but it’s only 2 years old so I’m not sure about long term success

I’m in Hollywood area and I’m really hoping to find a public fruiting Inga to get a pod so I can eat and grow the seeds. I know of one in San Diego but I don’t plan on going that far. If any generous people would gift me a pod I would really appreciate that or I’d be willing to buy them too. I’d love to see a mature fruiting tree though

I’m in West Hollywood and was really hoping to find a ice cream bean tree. I’m from San Francisco Bay Area and my ice cream bean tree died this past winter and I’m really hoping to try the fruit and grow new trees from the seeds. I heard there’s one at sea world San Diego but that is too far

71
I’m also happy with my last order from you. Did you do anything special to sprout the diospyros lycioides? I’ve ordered seeds before and none ever sprouted.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Anyone growing “Che Seedless”?
« on: March 27, 2022, 11:42:49 AM »
I’ve ate the fruit and it was seedless. The taste was kind of bland. Reminded me of fig and some type of berry. I like the taste it was just mellow. I’ve heard each tree varies in taste but are all similar mellow taste. I am growing wild Che which has seeds and I’m curious how that’s going to taste. I should have fruit for the first time on that this year and also another seedless one from a different source. I’d like to find the one that taste like melon

74
I ordered 3 trees from last order. I would be interested in female An Hai and female Late Growing

I can see scamming from other side of world and claiming that the seeds got destroyed during shipping but doing it to somebody that knows where you live is pretty ballsy. Sounds like either lost track of transaction information or personal beef
