I starting getting a few mangos starting at the end of April. Manilita Mango.
By a few I mean 4  over the last week or two. Manilita is usually a mild mango in the best of times so right now its even milder.
But I'll take what i can get.
Happy Mango Season everyone.

I cut down my mature Guava, Seine Ta Lone / Peach Cobbler (multigrafted tree) last year as well.
It was producing (both) pretty reliably for me though. I'm not a big fan of Guava and have Peach cobbler grafted elsewhere.

I had emerald quite a few times back when it was more popular (around 6-8 years ago). It was featured a few times on the Fairchild list. While those mangos might not be top notch in terms of flavor, they were typically reliable producers and clean.
Had a strong West indian flavor, a lot of passion fruit and guava notes in the resin. It was a little too acidic for my taste (same reason why I'm not that high on Sweet Tart).

My understanding is that you are supposed to treat it like reticulata and wait for it to get soft on the tree.

Later season reticulatas have problems with flavor if there aren't many leaves left on the tree. How does the trees look like in CA when its cherilata season?

The one that huertasurbanas sells seeds of is good. My friend has grown it out to fruiting and it is way better than whatever has been floating around in the US for a while. Its worthy to grow for its fruit I have been told.

Thats great to hear, mine (from huertasurbanas) is finally fruiting as well.
Expecting good things

It fruited this year but I didn't get to taste it, only one fruit but it fell off the tree
Have you tried the fruit yet? Was it good?

I had the standard purple from PIN.
It fruited a ton by itself for a few years.
I now have a hipolito too.

I think that is where mine is from. I assume you have it in the ground? Do you remember how tall it was when it set fruit. Was the fruit any good? Trying to decide if I should keep it with my limited gh space.

I planted mine 2014, it started fruiting around 5 years later I think.
It produces buckets of fruit. Way more than I can handle.
The fruit is alright though, I wouldn't plant it again if I had only a 1/4 acre
Very similar to abiu but easier to take care, better season and I find the fruit a little sweeter.
Ive had a few different varieties but I tend to like the green ones better, the season is a like later but it's really hard to pick it right. I still can't consistently

Of your list I have

My fruited for one year, i just cut back the multigrafted section.
It was vigorous and upright in growth habit.

Nothing interesting in the taste or texture.
It had some disease problems, MBBS

I'm growing this in a pot for now but plan on putting them in the ground in 2 years.
Does anyone have any tips on soil conditions?
I'm assuming they prefer to be treated like normal plinias but I'm not sure how tolerant they are to higher PH.

I'm looking to plant inflata, and edulis as well.

Thanks to everyone who came by.
I hope you guys enjoyed the fruit.

These abius were a little bit better than last year's crop, but I do have less on the tree so that might be the reason

Concerning shipping:
It looks like I have enough local interest so I won't be able to ship much

It's possible I can pair a few abiu with some Orange sherbet mango in a medium box so everyone has a chance to try it.
I'm sort of limited on both fruits now. Can't ship to CA guys, sorry.
I'm thinking $65 for a 3-4 abius and 3 orange sherbet mango.

Please let me know if you are interested.

44
This abiu I've tried and it's my favorite one out of all the seedlings I've had so far!
Skhan always has the best fruit!

I appreciate the kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed the fruit.
Sorry we couldn't meet up again this mango season.
Looks like you've been having a good bit of success in you're area, keep up the good work and keep us posted.

45
I just picked a 5 gal bucket filled with abiu.
$7/lb, local pick up for now.
They're around 6 oz each
I'll look into shipping for Monday

I still have a few mangos. Mostly orange sherbet and venus

46
I appreciate the kind words guys
The season is almost over, I'll be happy to get a break for a few days

47
Update: 7/16/24

I will probably only have mangos for sale for 2 more weeks.

We have:

I don't know much about this annona, I tried looking around.
Does anyone have any information about it or better yet experience with it?

I grafted a few of these earlier this year for fun and they look healthy and unique.
