I bought a seedling some time back, unfortunately it got dug out by raccoons. I discovered it the next day and it slowly died after I replant. It looks like a selection of the Eugenia pryiformis complex type of species.

Yes I second this, I have a grafted lemon drop with Luc's and it is already flowering first year grafted.

I grafted Pecan Pie lucuma and its flowering now reported to be a moist type. Funny enough my rootstock was a seedling from Exotica nursery and its now flowering as well for first time.

I have some Castanea pumila var. ashei trees I bought from nearly native 2 years ago. Still waiting for them to size up. Hoping it has decent blight resistance and good nut set on low chill hours.

I have to look into castanopsis species. I was looking at crossing Castanea pumila x Castanea mollissima in the future. I am hoping I get enough chill hours to reliably get nut set in Socal or South FL.

I noticed my mulberries grafted to Thai dwarf are fruiting more profusely then on its own roots or other rootstock. I have used it as the choice rootstock, although I have no nematode pressures.

I have found buddy tape for the the scion and over the connected area with rootstock. I then use electrical tape and tension it nicely over the connection part to add tension strength over the area.

For cutting the scions I can use a grafting knife initially then do the finished level cuts using feather artist Japanese razors. Depending on size of scion I may just use the razor blade entire time.

So far getting a good success depending the type of plant and timing. Like +80% if optimal timing using cleft graft.

I have Ficus opposita trees that are at least 4 years old in ground in FL. They seem to be doing well with limited inputs, I tried fig varieties in past and they scumbag and have stunted growth. No idea if I can successfully graft common fig onto it though.

Cuttings are mature to semi mature, 6 to 10 inches. I have been cloning a dwarf seedling rose apple that produces very good large fruits on a 3ft tree.

How much sunlight are you exposing them to?  As much as possible?  Full shade, somewhere in between?

Led lights ontop of humidity dome.

I just make my own soil mix. I get peat moss, coir, perlite, biochar, crushed granite, lime, vermiculite, and osmocote. It saves money if you buy at least 2 to 3 cubic ft bags of each materials besides the lime, granite, and osmocote.

Im growing Passiflora edulis var. a large Brazilian yellow from seed about 5 producing offspring and 2 different sources of Passiflora maliformis seedlings.

Thanks for the honest review. I'm getting tired of being burned by solanums that all turn out to be gross.

I will say one thing about it, the flowers smell amazing like a natural perfume and when in flower it smells like perfume about 10ft around the plant. It may be even worth extracting the essential oil from the flowers for fragrance if they are not poisonous.

Maybe my 15ft tree will decide to fruit sometime. Does well in part shade in Florida thrives on neglect, I have it in a low spot in the yard that floods on and off during the rain season.

I have already fruited Diploconos. It has a resiny citrus flavor. The fruit is like the size of a kumquat. It may be ok to juice, but its definitely not tier A or B fruit. Its more like a tier C with nice ornamental value.

Avocados, White Sapote, Prickly Pears, Lucuma, Guava (fruit flies), Pomegranate, Fig, Papaya (fruit flies). These fruits all produce higher quality fruit or do better in CA compared to FL.

They start to become brittle after 5 years of constant sun due to UV and elements.

By that time you should be reporting anyway which is an easy process of just laying the fabric container on its side and using a box cutter to remove the old fabric container. I do this ontop of a tarp to catch the clumps of soil.

I stopped by there a few times since 2020. I noticed his inventory was never restocked. Last interesting good tree I bought was a Katy Macadamia prior to that a seedling grown Lucuma of good size.

I stopped by this last summer and was disappointed. A lot of seedling cherimoyas, seedling mangos, and other more common fruits. His jabos were priced way to high.

It will suck if the mature trees are lost but most of its genetics and off spring have already spread to many new homes.

I don't have most of the PARLs which I got from the Grins system back in 2012. I have PCH#1, PARL 256, and PARL 342.

I made another collection for Nopales, Carson Spineless. Then I have some various others from nurseries. The plants are starting to put on some mass.

Psidium robustum produces well in container and stays stout and dwarf in size. Hard to pass on Figs as well.

Yes it gets big fast, I have to chop it back a few times a year to keep it controlled.

For a similar tier fruit I would recommend Spondias purpura. It has a shorter season than tropical apricot, however the fruit tastes better and tree is more manageable with better ornamental look.

It's ok if you like sour apricot flavor. It has more potential processed into preserve. It grows like a weed in Florida and has a wide bush growth habit.

If your lacking room I would skip, if you have plenty of room and want a bullet proof fruiting plant then I would recommend it.
