I wish I could get some at any price down here in FL
They should start producing a lot more once the trees are fully mature. Cherimoya trees can get huge and you can easily get over 100 fruit on an established large tree. Annonas are definitely worth planting. Did you get any exceptional tasting fruit from your seed grown trees? Simon
I also paid $9/lb at fruit specialty store in Westminster, CA.She said it’s locally grown, it tasted ok; my own Dr. White and Honey heart are a lot better...By the way, some members here saying that Cherimoya from Chiliare really bad, and I agree, I wouldn’t buy those again, having bought some of those myself in the past...
If you purchase an imported Chilean Cherimoya you will most likely think you do not like to eat Cherimoya fruit. I don't know if they pick too early or have a treatment process for importing but they are always nasty and never ripen properly the 5-10 I've bought over the years. Finding someone that ships from California is the way .
Frankly cherimoyas have always been really expensive in California. I remember 30 years ago when i lived there they sold for 5-6 dollars a pound. A lot higher priced than now if you figure in that the dollar was worth a lot more back then. But i was pleasantly surprised when i moved to Hawaii and found them for 2-3 dollars a pound. I don't really understand why because they are not widely grown here either.
