Some more mangoes from Tropical Acres
« on: June 21, 2018, 06:14:38 PM »
I just made another pickup from Tropical Acres. I just tried a Sunrise for the first time. What an excellent selection, a rich citrusy taste. I'm waiting on most of them to ripen. I'm excited to try a few for the first time, especially Harvest Moon.

Its not my harvest it's Alex's harvest. Coc and Dot are not the same. Coc is from Vietnam and Dot is a seedling selected by Laurence Zill in Florida. Both excellent mangoes though.

Glad you liked the Sunrise. It is one of my favorite mangoes. Wish it was a better producer.

I see you are in Stuart, I live in Port St Lucie, do you grow any dwarf varieties and if so what do recommend. I lave a louquat that is not producing and must go. So its either another mango or an atrmoya.

Congrats!  They look wonderful.

This morn I put in a custom box order of Pineapple Pleasure, Coconut Cream, Dot, Pickering, Cac, Graham, Angie, Alphonso, Mahachanok.

Honey Kiss stays small, is very productive and is a late season variety. Pickering is even smaller, but I like Honey Kiss more. Dwarf Hawaiian is early season and really good as well.

Sidney if you want to stop by and check it out that would be fine. I have a bunch of mangoes that grow compactly such as Ice Cream, Pickering and Cogshall. I also have a Geffner Atemoya and a couple Lisa Atemoyas. I plant close as I am aiming for a food forest not a production grove. The trees seem to like being close together although I will have more pruning to do in the future.
