Golden pulusan
« on: August 08, 2019, 04:31:20 PM »
My son brought these pulusan fruits from a friends property. They have thick skins which will probably give them better shelf life. The flavor is quite good.  Certainly this fruit is the product of a random seed although we have seen nothing around here anything like it. Our pulusan are very dark red. In Malaysia you see some green one but I like the look of this better. We’re going to make some air layers.

What elevation are these growing at? What is the coldest it gets?

They’re growing near sea level. The coldest it gets is about 19 centigrade.

That's a really interesting pulasan.  I've seen green as you mention but had not seen yellow before -- good luck propagating it.  Are the fruit freestone or does the flesh tend to stick to the seed on these?

Hi John,
The fruit is freestone, easy to eat.  It’s a little harder to open because of the heavier rind, but very good overall.
