Solanum gRafting?
« on: March 09, 2021, 12:30:00 AM »
Hi, I’ve avoided solanaceae for a long time because I don’t like growing trees that don’t live for long. However, I have out goldenberry(physalis) as an exception as I heard it can sucker from the base.
I wonder, is there a “longer living” solanum species that is compatible with others to use as a rootstock to lengthen lifespan?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you :)
Cheers!

I would try Solanum wrightii / giant potato tree I know use as a rootstock for multiple varieties solanum and it's nematical resistant

Or Solanum torvum / pea eggplant completely forgot about it but yeah that wants another good standard rootstock and nematode resistant too
