Anyone interested?

If seeds are fresh germinations rates should be decent. I talked to someone who got fresh seeds and said he got good stuff. Many of people with bad rates had got seeds from sources that were old at least several yeasrs?. (trade winds seeds, sheffields)
These are fresh from the source. Of course theres always more factors than that.

Why not just get fresh seeds from the US when it is an option versus importing?

Good point. Right now I don't really know of any sources in the US. I think all sources in the US are being imported out of country.

Yangmei is one of my most sought after tree. Some folks refer to it as the Chinese strawberry tree. I already have the European strawberry tree. Wouldn’t mind adding a yangmei to my cool weather tree collection, although I heard germination can be pretty tricky, with age of seeds, cold stratification followed by warm stratification and back to cold stratification affecting germination success.
Something tells me they would make good candidates for the winter sowing method...Worth a try I supposed!

Yangmei is totally different than Arbutus unedo. Although the fruits do look alike.
These seeds are fresh.
But the thing that seems consistent with everyone growing them is that they are slow. Give them some time and good quality seeds and growing conditions seem to be the trick. Of course we can’t guarantee anything :)

It seems strange that the seller won't accept seed permits especially since yangmei isn't on the restricted plants list.

Probably doesn't want to fill it out lol
According to him, "I have sent many packages to USA for the last three years, it never happened."
So gonna go with it I do know people who have bought from him and others so I think its ok. If I thought it wasn't worth it, then I wouldn't go through.

I think they are referring to the similarities between the fruits, leaves, and their growth habits. I think you are right that they in different families. Perhaps this is the case of similar appearance due to similar environmental circumstances despite the two trees being a world apart! Nature is fascinating. And if anyone is able to germinate yangmei, perhaps you could sell a couple seedlings to me! :-)

I’m getting final stuff figured out then I’ll pm everyone who is in the order. Thanks!

Hello
I am in China, you should pay attention to a problem. Bayberry is male and female, and most of the seeds will grow male. It is recommended that you import grafting and grafting. The probability of seed mutation is too great. As long as 0.055 US dollars (in China), even if the packaging cost is added, it will be $ 0.5 ::)

The season of yangmei has not yet arrived.
The yangmei seeds at this time did not have germination rate, be careful to be cheated
