It is neither Haden nor TA. It is an older school mango, but not one of the more common varieties. He told me what it is, just don't recall at the moment.

I went from.13 precious Julie to one 😠
My lone Julie is still hanging in there. It won't be too much longer, she is shaded and only gets kissed by the morning sun.

Truly Tropical already has quite a few mangos for sale. Mine are probably a good month away.
But it is getting intense here. I can feel all those squirrels and raccoons eyeballing my mangos.
The birds stop by to check them too.

A list of signs when to pick each variety would be so nice.  I know some get shoulders, but do all?
Brown stem, sap beads, color change, firmness, shoulders, all that would be great to read.

My 1st 2025 mango.  Cogshall picked 2 weeks ago outta fear of losing it.  Was great.
Ate most of skin, a bit thick though maybe because i picked it soon but ate it anyway lol.
Spoon thing just for fun.  I don't eat mangos with spoons :)

I picked a small Carrie off my tree few days ago as it was getting really yellow. Ate it the next day.
It smelled right and the color was good too. It was not very sweet though.
Today, I see that Truly Tropical in Delray is selling Carrie now. I use them as an indicator as they usually sell ripe fruit.
I guess, I need to take a closer look at mine. This is about 1m earlier than usual. This year is weird.
Also, found a totally eaten Kathy. Just the seed and skin. Did not get much smell from it but it looked dark orange. Those are probably near ready too. Those raccoons and squirrels have better sense of smell and when they start stealing fruits it means they are almost ready.
Still can’t believe how early it is this year.

I see Alex, Truly Tropical and Mangomen are all opening for sales. Based on what’s on offer, looks like an earlier than ‘normal’ season (meaning start and end). Would you agree?

Its not super early like a few years ago. I'm only getting my normal early season stuff now. I'd say mid-late June should be the height.
My Zinc is loaded, looking forward to that coming in June

Picked a few Glenns and Orange Sherbets today. Critters have been eating 1 or 2 Glenns per day (can't bag em' all), so picking mostly green. It's fun debating with my teen whether or not a mango is ready for picking.

How big do those Glenns need to be for picking, and should there be a little color? Mine are close to baseball size right now and green.

They are probably a little under a pound each. Any sign of yellow or even orange, and I pick Glenn. If you let them go long enough, can sniff test them. If you detect a hint of peaches, ready to pick. OS is harder, but also starts to yellow some. Dry stems also help me zero in on mangoes that are ripening.

Doc, they all look great.  Mine don't look as pretty.  I must be using the wrong nutrients.  Good job.

Thanks Eddie. I don’t do anything special, aside from azomite and maxicrop. I purposely planted mostly disease resistant varieties in my humid Orlando yard.

Few Val Carrie sizing up

I'll look into them nutes doc.  I got all kinds of problems happening quickly.
Mites? appeared suddenly, sprayed soap & spinosad, leaves yellowing falling off from something.  I did water couple times per week during drought.
I have potassium sulfate & phosphite, is this need of potassium?

Pretty close to perfect Glenn for breakfast this morning. Picked green about 5 days prior.

14 oz.

Juicy and peachy, plenty sweet.

Beautiful Glenn, Roblack.

Eddie - completely yellow leaves like that are probably ok, as long as they’re the oldest leaves on the plant (closest to the bottom of the branch). The tree removes the nutrients from the old leaves to recycle into new growth etc.

The mottled yellow on upper green leaves looks like something else, scale or sucking insect damage? I’m not an expert by any means.

Potassium deficiency shows up as brown necrotic/scorched dry leaf tips. Usually without a dark black line separating the scorched part from healthy leaf. My guava and son pari both have it, they are cultivars known to be prone to potassium deficiency. Try some liberal application of 0-0-50 sulfate of potash for potassium deficiency.

I'm getting some nice red blush and a tiny bit of yellow on the bottom of a few, but no complete break yet

Hmmmm. My Carrie is holding pretty well. I guess I need to go and pick some. I see those strings of sap on some of them now.
