I see Tropical Acres Farm has Jean Ellen available for sale. It's my understanding this was a Frank Smathers cultivar developed at Four Fillies Farm. Has anyone here tasted the fruit? Is it top tier variety?
I acquired a tree based on growth habit and it being an early season Indian flavored fruit.

I've had it a few time.
The main selling point for me was the season, the flavor was just alright, mild. Indian flavored for sure.
I considered multi grafting it, but after having it a few times I decided against it

It puts out a lot of fruit but I would consider it middle of the road. Early season like skhan said is what it has going for it. Would rather have a Rosigold imo.

Soaked in sweat, working the chipping hammer for over an hour. It's not going to give me fruit sitting in a three gallon container.  5 inches of top soil mixed with sand and limestone rocks. Then  chipped 21 inches of solid limestone so she can get a  foothold.

We have Rosigold. Rosa and Dwarf Hawaiian too. My thinking is Jean Ellen is not as early as the before mentioned varieties. Nice to hear she will be prolific 5 years from now.
