Root prune pomegranate before planting?
« on: November 06, 2025, 05:27:55 PM »
Somehow I missed a massive girdling root when I bought my 15 gallon parfianka  ::)

I want to chop it… anyone suggest otherwise? Secondary question: wait until fully dormant to plant or plant now?

Chop it and plant it.  Its fine.  Those plants are bullet proof.

Yeah, I second Brads, answer they are bullet proof as are Olive and loquats just to name a few. I learned over 50yrs. ago that Pomegranates, Olives , grab apple and other non fruiting trees are bullet proof when in Bonsai class they would dig up and cut back roots and top and replant in small pot and live! Mind that all done at right time of year!

Alrighty, I’ll give it the chop. I’ll have a lot less anxiety now afterwards… thanks Brad and Scott.

I agree with everyone here.

I root prune every single one of my plants when I get them now (like a cake) except for blueberries.
