Mulberry propagation
«

I have several types of mulberry cuttings coming in the mail. I was hoping someone with more experience would be able to let me know the best way to propagate them. Preferably rooting them from cuttings.
Black pakistan
White shahtoot/pakistan
Thai dwarf
Himalayan

you can stick Thai dwarf in the dirt and water like crazy
Himalayan probably needs to be grafted to another mulberry plant
not sure about the others, but probably either grafting or dirt rooting is a way to go with them

Rooting hormone helps even if you keep cutting in water with just a bit of stimulant.

I have not had any luck rooting white Pakistan. They do graft easily if you have access to wild mulberry seedlings.

Pakistani can be rooted in soil or grafted... I've done both. Grafted onto Everbearing rootstock.
About 10% success rate rooting in soil. Use rooting hormone. I bagged them and kept them in mostly shade with daily watering.
Same goes for rooting Shangri-La.
So far I have 2 Shahtoots that appear to be taking a graft on Thai Dwarf rootstock. Fingers crossed.
And Thai Dwarf roots very easily in soil... just keep it in mostly shade and water daily.

I've away had about 75% takes on Pakistani mulberry I cut about 12"-14" tip cuttings and stick in tall tree pot's a least 3/4 length into pot with three to two bud's above soil. soil mix is peat moss with pumice 40% peat to 60%pumice you want water retention but also fast draining. I cut bottom of cutting right below bud then on opposite side slice into cambium about 3/8" ( this is called wounding a cutting) then dip in hormone and stick 3/4 length into pot. Can take up to 6-months before you see growth sometimes.

Iguanas love this plant!! they eat every leaf and fruit..
I was not able to compete with the Iguana's appetite and cut the tree down, planted something else instead
ps. we have an Iguana Problem in Broward County, FL
