Need advice on whether to ask for a refund
« on: January 16, 2022, 12:59:51 AM »
This isn't tropical, but, I think I'll get more views here and I need advice.   I purchased at Cox's orange pippen grafted apple tree and it came with about 95% of the graft broken.  There is still a tiny amount.  I want opinions if I should demand a refund/or new plant or will it recover?

Hell yeah, ask for a refund. Poorly packed is their fault. If you kill it because you made a mistake that is your fault. If they don't refund you let the forum know so those of us who care don't buy from them.

Did you notify Cox's immediately when you received the tree?
I would think any reputable company would quickly want to
remedy the situation. Hopefully they have another tree and
will replace.

Were I you, I would ask for a refund.  What you received was not what you ordered.

That said, it does looks like there is enough of the graft left that the plant should recover.  If it does and you feel guilty having your money and the plant make sure you do enough business with them to recover the loss :)  Or call them to let them know the situation and send them payment.

Alternatively, if this is a business you know well, you may let them know what happened and that you will seek a refund (and get a commitment of sorts from them) if the plant does not recover.

So, yes you should request a refund and yes the plant should recover.

I don't see any new buds left on the small scion you have so it will die, get a refund now. Take pictures and file a complaint with the supplier.

Definitely ask for refund/replacement. Just for fun i would take the broken piece clean up the broken section. Top the rootstock then try to regraft. (Assuming scion is still green). Apples IME are very easy to graft.

Ask for a replacement, not a refund.
