Cecropia Cold Tolerance

Can anyone comment on the cold tolerance of Cecropia? Anyone in Central FL growing them/if yes how'd they do this winter?

From last months weather event here in 10A the damage noted on my trees was comparable to mango damage. They are very vigorous and shooting back all over the trunk, going to have cecropia bushes this summer.

Got 3 trees here in Houston and can confirm SunshineStates observations- got pretty whacked by a frost event but looking to bounce back well, I will put mine in the ground soon

The only one I ever saw in 9B was in east of a lake in Sebring. It did not survive long term to my knowledge.

This was naturally occuring or planted?

I am hoping to put it in a particular spot where things that should not have made it through winter seem to have (Garcinia)

Best I can gather it is a location that receives a lot of sunlight, is protected from wind etc, and has a canopy of mulberry trees growing over it that may do some work toward trapping heat.

I think they should at least get to fruit this year? and then I can decide how much I want to protect them etc

I have two 3-4 ft trees overwintering in my basement currently. Temps stay in the low to mid 60s. They were fine for months and then recently all the leaves look like got fried and are falling off. Tree still look alive minus the leaves. Is this normal for them to drop leaves?

Here are mine after the winter in Texas-

I covered them with cloth protection when temps were dipping below 40

Normal and tolerable are two different things, but I think these plants can tolerate defoliation
