Aerogarden Aguaymanto (Physalis peruviana)
« on: March 05, 2023, 12:17:06 AM »
Hey All-

So I found an Aerogarden for cheap recently, and in the interest of upping my greens consumption I decided to buy it-

I noticed that people often grow tomatoes in these and since I had a bunch of extra aguaymanto sprouts I thought I would give it a shot-

Here are 2 of them-

Has anyone ever tried this before? any other interesting species to try in here?

Also anyone have any good greens recommendations other than arugula and mizuna?

Mesclun seed mixes are good for varieties of greens.  Franchi offers a good Tuscany mix and packet comes with a lot of seeds.

Frisee (Endive) is great in salads, the blanched leaves are milder than other chickories
Tatsoi is great for salads and stir fry
Dragon tongue mustard is my favorite mustard green it has a sweet spicy flavor
Persian cress has a sweet spicy flavor as well and seeds sprout within a couple of days
White Russian kale is milder than lacinato for salads
Cilician parsley is a staple

I can go on and on with greens, not even counting all the great perennial greens.  ;D
