Super Has Looks a little Sad
« on: March 13, 2025, 01:08:33 PM »
This super Has has been in the ground since 9/23. Planted as a 45 gallon. Do I have some type of deficiency? It is starting to bud now, but just looks pretty unhappy. Browning at leaf tips.

It's getting ready to drop all those leaves; happens every year, that looks pretty normal for a Haas variety in Florida. Just start feeding it and watch for sunburn on any trunk sections that aren't shaded after the flush hardens (trunk looks a little sun-burnt to me). Paint white latex on any sun-exposed trunk to give it some protection.

Looks like wind burn to me.  Instead of deficiency, looks more like a salt issue on the tips, either nutrient-related, or airborne...  How close are you to the coast, and were you affected by hurricane Milton possibly?

A tree that size really should be flowering and flushing growth right now. That's what my Super Hass is doing.

The yard looks dry and crispy - is it getting enough water?

I was also thinking dry and crispy.  Needs mulch and water and less sun on those branches.

I agree.   I still water my avocado trees 20 min every day.   I’m on sugar sand though.    Go look at an experienced grove like Tropical Acres.    They mound mulch and compost nearly a foot thick around , I think everything they grow, but not mango trees.    Start spraying weekly with Neptune kelp/fish emulsion , and citrus nutritional spray.    You will see a dramatic turn around.   Make sure whatever water u use isn’t too salty
