No, the Garden watchdog on daves garden? It's the main site for reviewing nurseries/seed stores on the internet.

With jaboticaba, i know you are grafting high-ph-sensitive varieties onto sabara to improve ph results.  What is the best similar option for eugenias that are sensitive to high ph?  Is one better than another for here in FL, or is the common surinam cherry the best/easiest rootstock?  Thanks.  I got some fairly rare (for me at least) eugenia seeds from Jim West and i want to make it happen best i can.  I know there's E. Victoriana but i forget the rest i got from Jim.  I will check later and look them up specifically.  Just wondering with the rootstock on eugenias.  Thanks

Jeff,
great question, but unfortunately that's a whole other can of worms that I have not opened up fully.

there's lots of work to be done with this subject..i've only had time to seriously experiment with the Plinias and Myrciarias....and I've barely experimented the Eugenias.

I've tried grafting E. selloi and E. candolleana onto E.uniflora...but no luck..also tried E. pyriformis onto E. uniflora, the graft lived for a while before finally dying from incompatibility.

i've had plenty of success grafting onto the same species (uvalha onto uvalha, pitanga onto pitanga, cherry of rio onto cheryy of rio), but not much luck grafting onto different species.

I'm looking to graft E. calycina onto E. involucrata soon...I'll let you know if it works!

Also...right now I'm doing some experiments with Myrciaria/Plinia....and this week I've got some new information that could be groundbreaking...I will have to wait and see...but so far looks like I may have found a new match!!  and a chance for FL growers to grow a new crop!

the time has come...I must sell this big old Rollinia deliciosa tree....it's about 8yrs old, 8ft tall, and in a 65gal pot.  I planted the seed years ago, from a fruit that I ate at fruit and spice park.

it's for local pick up only...and you will need a decent sized bed in your truck to get it home.

the tree is larger now than in this picture....that photo was taken months ago...so its put on a foot or more of growth since....there is scale on the tree, but I didn't treat it with poison because I wanted to eat the fruit...I can treat the tree if you want...the scale is not bothering the tree though. ....it's very happy.

it needs to be planted, or put in a larger pot soon...

I've eaten several fruits from this tree, and they are excellent....Unfortunately I haven't got any fruits larger than a big sugar apple...because the tree needs to be planted.

the price for the tree is $200 firm....local pick up only, (at my nursery) (delivery might be a possibility...but not cheap...I have access to a box truck sometimes)

please email if you're interested .... thanks!  :)
