I don't usually offer bananas, but I bought some to resell today...a variety from Stokes Tropicals called "Seminole"

http://stokestropicals.plants.com/Musa-sp-Seminole-P582.aspx

I haven't researched it much yet, but i liked the story i heard about it from my friend (which may not be totally accurate)...had something to do with Seminole indians growing it at one point or another, i suppose after it had been introduced to FL...and also hear it was cold tolerant, and quick fruiter.

I only have about 8 plants, in small plugs gotta get $10 ea...shipping is $6 for USPS priority

seems like more of a multi-purpose variety--good for cooking and probably out of hand when good and ripe.  Speaking of guinea pigs, who wants to buy the pineapple banana (alleged sport of rajapuri) and report back?  I am intrigued, but I just don't like spending good $ on bananas.  If anyone ever gets pups of this, PM me and I will trial it at my job.

Is there a Florida source for pineapple banana?   I lost a couple other cultivars to wind recently, have room to try something new.

I've had good luck with some past purchases from Just Fruits and Exotics, Rob.

Maybe this cultivar isn't all that it's cracked up to be?   :-\

sounds like we are back to old "if it were worthwhile, it would be mass-propagated by now" argument.  I have no way of knowing if this banana is any good, but I have heard good things about JF&E.  Is it impossible to think that a nursery has a good variety that it has discovered/been introduced to and it is worthwhile, but not propagated by others (Excalibur Red, for example)?  This comes up whenever Borneo Red jakfruit is mentioned.  Whatever the reasons are that it isn't widely propagated, the BR I had at jackfruit tasting (side by side) was indeed, quite good.  Rob is probably correct about the pineapple banana, but that doesn't mean we can't keep scouring for more varieties of fruit trees.  Also doesn't mean we can't convince someone to give it a go and report back  ;)

this is totally off topic but anyone knows how to get rid of iguanas?
Or deter them from eating my young fruits seedlings or worse yet my hibiscus and other plants?

I heard you can hang CDs near the plants to try to scare the iguana....not sure if it works

the cds can work but the only real way I have found is to shoot them dead, kill the little ones and any nests around.

Hi Adam, just wanted to let you know that I got my Dream atemoya scions and they are now already grafted to cherimoya. Hope it's not too early and they would take for good!
Btw, thanks for your generosity Adam, you sent me more than what I ordered for!

Thats  :)
I was leading toward that idea. But don't have a gun, I'll have to get  some kids to go and catch them for me,
Or yes and they eat them If they were at home my landlords dog would catch them and eat them for me. When she is loose she eats 1-2 a day.
Nice organic protein.

Adam,
Thanks for the package everything arrived intact.

The cambium layer on the scions looked more brown then green. Maybe light brown.
I removed the bottom inch to get to fresher piece, they are both grafted onto a healthy potted gefner now. Hopefully it works out.
I forgot to take a pic though

now i just have makok, and a variegated sap.

i have the best luck doing a cleft, and bagging the plant (leaving foliage intact).

i think now is best time of year to graft sap.

Thank you for the extra ones. It was great to have some extra even with a small order.

Will come back, as soon as my PayPal agrees... lol
