Hey Adam,

I wanted to get your opinion: What are the most heat tolerant / sun tolerant Eugenias and Garcinias?

Thanks man!

I know I'm not Adam, but I would say that the most heat/sun tolerant Eugenias are: Dune Myrtle (E. capensis), Cedar Bay cherry (E. reinwardtiana), Pitanga-peba (E. pitanga), Mattos cherry (E. mattosii), Cerrado cherry (E. calycina), Pitanga-tuba (E. selloi) & Suriname cherry (E. uniflora).

Don't know much about Garcinia, but I imagine Luc's/Mexican garcinia would be up there, with the added advantage of cold tolerance.

Eugenia luschnathiana = CURUIRI.    Talisia esculenta = PITOMBA
I do not recommend people deal with Fruit Lovers, Prisca Mariya or Fernando Malpartida

seem like pitangatuba, cedar bay cherry, and pitanga are most heat tolerant...(even pitomba and cherry of rio are impressive)....Grumixama, and Dwarf Grumixama are impressive as well...easily withstanding temps above 100F...don't forget E. stipitata... there are really too many to mention...

as for garcinias, based on my limited experience...G. aristata, G. intermedia, G. livingstonei, G. garnderiana, and luc garcinia are a few that handle heat and sun well when they are still relatively small...i'm sure there are many many more.

Steve:
i have a few xmas loquats about head high, gotta get $40 ea, still in 3 gal.

still have some seedling Grimals for $10-20 ea!

TX girl:
the largest white jabos i have are almost 1ft tall, $35 ea...only about 1.5yr old.
I will be grafting some camu camu later this year, not sure if I will have any for sale, it depends on the success rate...but, I will be selling some of these now, as prehealed trees at a discount!

MikeRule: thanks very much for the update, I hope one of the seeds turns out to be an amazing new hybrid or mutant!  and if not, just like the parent plant will suffice!

Send you a email now.

I'm on it!

I'm trying to keep up better with correspondence..

i had a some help from a great guy (Nathaniel Fenton of www.Shadowoodfarm.com)...

he came and did some wicked grunt work in the greenhouse, helping me weed and clean!

so as a result, I've had more time and energy to fill orders!

small yellow jabos available soon...maybe in 45 days?

as for red jabo fruit, I've been saving most for seed...maybe I will offer fruit again soon...but i have been battling rats in the greenhouse, which seem to consume about 20% of my red jabo fruit...luckily they don't harm the seeds.
