Jealous of the forbesii lol. Tried to import them and they were all kaput presumably as the seeds are tiny for garcinias.

It’s not that great imho,  I think strawberry guavas taste better and they are weeds here

id rather have cherapus any day to be honest.  but the rind made for pretty good candy actually.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / kasturi seedlings
« on: September 21, 2023, 04:47:07 PM »
Hi,
Have a bunch of kasturi seeds I forgot about that germinated and are 6-10" with at least one pair or leaves popped out.  Going to take out of bag and let them get leaves to harden off and  established in small pots before sending out.
$10 per seedling plus shipping.

If you ever get to try cherapu, then you'll create an obsession to get those seeds.  those maybe 40% germination is good.

Wasn't suggesting they were Frankies just thought I would add my experience with them.  Would love to try some Cherapu or anything really, unfortunately in San Diego the only Garcinia I have ever seen is mangosteens from Mexico.  You guys are blessed with your options out there, I only got a small taste of what is available and I was hooked!

no worries, frankie's or not, forbessii still have relatively low germination rate.

Looking for Murraya Koenigii AKA Curry Leaf Seeds, please PM

i may be able to get. but i've never planted so not sure what good seeds look like. but will keep you posted.

I actually got lucky when visiting Frankies nursery and bought some forbessii fruits late january.  I have nothing compare them to since the only other garcinia I have tried was mangosteen.

I actually got lucky when visiting Frankies nursery and bought some forbessii fruits late january.  I have nothing compare them to since the only other garcinia I have tried was mangosteen.  Pretty good, like a quite sour small mangosteen.  Maybe even too sour for some people, but I didn't mind at all. Took the seeds home with me and nothing came from it.  Good luck to anyone that grabs them.

For the record, these seeds that I have are not from Frankie's trees.  Side note, though his tree is a standalone, his does produce viable seeds.  You don't get 100% germinate, even 30% is quite generous even if you get viable looking ones.  However, there are a few of the seeds from this batch that have already germinated so you do get a chance at getting something out of it.

doubtful you'll find them in chinatown.  your better off with the farmer's markets.  the windward shopping center farmers market get best chance since the farmers in that area i know grow em and have the h20 to get em to fruit easily.

Now you have to graft all those varieties on to one tree.

It's a 9 year old 4 footer - $150, plus $50 for delivery. Will not be shipping in a pot to reduce cost. The seller came highly recommended by another forum member who had purchased a 10 year old sabara from this seller 2 years ago and has started to flower this year.
$50 is cheap shipping.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Kepel Apple seeds for sale

I'd be interested in buying the plants if you have seedlings.  I tried starting kepel seeds a few times and had poor success

kepel can take a while to germinate...and even still, the roots may pop up but nothign above soil will show for months if not almost a year for me at least.

Curious, anyone has a small fruiting Sabara for sale? How much would it cost to have it shipped to NY? Thanks.

Try ask John Travis Morton. He probably got something up his sleeve that you'd be interested in buying that may fit your budget.

idk the growing conditions in Israel, but in Hawaii 1 yr old would be way bigger than that.  Even me with my horrible growing capability can get them maybe 9-12" in a year easy.
