Curious, anyone has a small fruiting Sabara for sale? How much would it cost to have it shipped to NY? Thanks.

Sabara does not fruit at a small size. There have been instances of them fruiting in 7 gallon pots, but they were grown in heavy shade and super old. But to find a fruiting sabara, they run about at the 15-25 gallon pot size or even larger, so nothing really shippable. I'd recommend the scarlet or  red jabo for fruiting at small sizes. Can hook you up with a fruiting size scarlet if you want.

Try ask John Travis Morton. He probably got something up his sleeve that you'd be interested in buying that may fit your budget.

Thanks so much for the offer, Veggieman01, $1k is going to be a bit over my budget; that's probably going to be my exotic fruits and plants fund for the next 5 to 10 years, lol

What IS your budget for a fruiting Jabo, including shipping? $100 or …..?
Unless someone is willing to act as mother teresa, you may want to graft up some fruiting red scion.

Sellers hustle; buyers haggle - that's what I say. I don't have much experience dealing in the jabo trade. Just shopping around for the best bang for my bucks that's all. Since this posting, I have received quite a few PMs from forum members giving me advice and info on what's out there. One individual told me he'd purchased a 10 year old sabara, that had just started to flower, a year or 2 ago for under $200.

I have no problem with haggling or begging.
Just wondering who was going to ship you a fruiting Jaboticaba for $100.

Actually if that happened and was made public that person might be hounded.
So if you score one, good for you!
I’d again just suggest grafting fruiting wood onto cheap rootstock’s to get more bang for your buck and
can turn your haggle into a hustle so you can buy more plants.

Hello,

Yes it's me! The smallest fruiting Sabara I have is 15 gal Shipping it to NY might be an issue. It would probably be too big to send it USPS but maybe  UPS of FedEx or another bulk carrier. Check out the shipping options and I'd be happy to sell you a tree.

Thanks for the response, John! Love your videos, btw! I didn't realize shipping these trees is such a pain. What's the next best thing you've got? An 8 or 9 year old in a 7 gallon perhaps?

Not much at that age in that size. When I'm trying to keep things growing slow, usually 7 gal is about a 5 year old tree. I have several in the size and age, shoot me a message and I'll give you some details.

Thanks for the offers and responses, everyone. Just purchased a 9 year old sabara from a seller out of Texas. It hasn't fruited yet, but it's getting there.

It's a 9 year old 4 footer - $150, plus $50 for delivery. Will not be shipping in a pot to reduce cost. The seller came highly recommended by another forum member who had purchased a 10 year old sabara from this seller 2 years ago and has started to flower this year.

Now you have to graft all those varieties on to one tree.

I was looking into another sabara on etsy that was selling for $110 - a 3 gallon 4 footer 6 year old, but shipping is like $78. So, yeah, the one I bought is a little cheaper in that regard. I believe the seller is good friends with Adam Shafran so I figured he would be reputable as well, but the age difference won me over.

Age is just a number , especially with Jaboticaba. Girth is a better indicator of where your at.
With Sabara there is no guarantee it will fruit in the next 10 years if it hasn’t already, but you can always graft fruiting scion.
