Did you "do" this Adam?

I have a bunch of seedlings that did this naturally

I put a green sapote in the ground last year and its been growing very nicely. But I'm pretty sure its gonna take at least 2-3 years before I see flowers.

But Mameys are like that too

I killed mine, so I hope you get it to set fruit! I beat you to flowering but you ultimately won Adam :'(

the battle is nowhere near finished!

but rest assured...if I win, you win!

seeds and mature scions will be available.
(scions will be available for sure next next winter)

I have this species grafted onto A. reticulata (grafted by Bob407 as an experiment)
so far it looks really promising.

I tried that a couple times to no avail. But my tree wasn't healthy. So wait, did this require a a second plant or did it self pollinate?

I did like Adam suggested and grafted the few remaining seedlings chempadeks I had onto jak fruit root stock, I think im seeing the buds push on a couple of them. I will post picture as soon as I see any real growth.
Any updated on this grafts David,  did they took?

I got grafts to take from budwood I got from 1 year old seedlings, but ultimately they still lacked vigour and died. I tried again two months ago with some budwood off the large chempadek in the Whitman pavillion at Fairchild. They took and seem to being doing okay.

Noris told me though that the tree in the Pavilion has never flowered and that even though it was 20 ft tall it was starting to lose vigor and turn yellow and they havent been able to fix it. Maybe there is something is the air. lol

What do you think is the liklihood than another Garcinia sp. nearby could provide the pollination services to a female?

Uau! The fruits appears to be big! 3 to 4 cm in diameter, maybe?

Grimal typically has larger fruit than Sabara (if properly grown)...I have not measured, but I think 3-4cm is close....

Paulista and coronata can be larger for sure.

the flavor of Grimal is unique...having a concord grape taste IMO.

Idk about your sabaras adam, but if you leave the fruit on my sabara until they are super ripe, like right before they start going bad on the tree....they taste exactly like concord grapes.

Hypoglauca trees in Soflo have survived brief freezes but I don't know what kind of damage they experienced.

Multiflora and torta have held up to the upper 30's with out problems. I have see abiu that did back in the 30's and others that hold up fine.

Where did you get Pouteria psammiophilla large leaf lucmo

Hey, so you sell sweet tamarind?

16
Adam, this micro climate, how cold would you say it gets? Also, sugar sand soil?

17
Adam, where is this tree? I gave up on my engkalas cause they were just...unhappy all the time.

Oscar of these trees are near me I'm gonna want some seedlings from you.

I know, I'm trying to remember where I saw 6 months.

Either way oscar. I can tell you from experience that I've had almost full germination after 2-3 months of being dry. I don't recommend risking it. But the seeds stay viable in my experience

Ya seriously. I don't think plants should be patented

20
I'm gonna plant my porcelia, but I'm gonna need to get a second one

21
Is anyone else growing this? Do adult trees push out new leaves with same color?

22
Ya it does look pretty great. Mine is way taller but much less bushier. But last year it got fried with the cold, this year its coming through the winter pretty much intact so Im hoping to see it double in size.

Ya I think we are talking about same tree, off a path. I remember the closest thing being some Jabos

24
This is the first time I've see Mangifera foetidia seeds sprouting. The color is amazing!

I think your biggest problem growing it is gonna be cold winters.
