Cold Hardy Citrus / fusion power vs citrus trees
« on: August 29, 2022, 09:11:14 AM »
Growing citrus trees up north is like running a hydrogen fueled fusion electric powerplant.  The trees are  always just 5 years away from unlimited fruit production.  With a fusion power plant,  We'll find out who is cold hardy among us.

Citrus General Discussion / T-Bud grafting of citrus
« on: August 15, 2022, 11:00:30 PM »
Mature New Zealand lemonade T-Bud grafted to New Zealand Lemonade seedling looks good. The brown spot is the leaf scar.

My tree is very large with at least 30 feet of linear branch grow and full of healthy dark green leaves.  It produced 100's of flower as well as some new shoots.  Most of the fruits are turning colors and falling with a few remaining green with out growth

Would anyone know why fruit drops from a well established tree.  I use Jacks 25-5-15 once a month by soaking the tree in a tub.  I water as needed between soakings.  No dry pockets in my dirt.

Typical Meiwa kumquat tree can't stand on its own 2 roots. I don't know why but all mine have been that way.

But my Fukushu kumquats stand tall and proud.

Citrus General Discussion / oxygen needs of citrus roots
« on: May 15, 2022, 11:06:49 AM »
How much oxygen does my 30 gallon 6 foot tall by 3 foot diameter Fukushu kumquat tree on C35 roots need compared to my pet mouse.  I was arguing that my pet mouse needs much more oxygen than my large Fukushu Kumquat tree.  Are there any charts on how much oxygen tree roots need to thrive.  As breathable as my 5-3-1 soil is it doesn't inhale and exhale as we do.

Citrus General Discussion / Leaves slowly willting
« on: February 17, 2022, 12:27:32 PM »
I have a New Zealand lemonade tree on C35 and a Valentine Pomelo on US897. The US897 started wilting first so I picked its fruit and about a month later the NZL started wilting. I started picking its fruit over the last month. Now 6 weeks into the wilting.  None of the fruits or flowers froze so the lowest temperature my have dipped a  little below freezing.  Any ideas of cause and is this tree a goner
