Mark and Simon, if you read this, how are your cherimoyas looking?  My stuff still seems several weeks away.  Maybe even 5 or 6 weeks.  If everyones stuff is coming in mid december we might be able to still have this once the road is finished here.  Sorry for not being decisive, my fruit ripening date is still and unknown as well as the construction work.  Those things are just happening when they happen.  Ive only had 2 ripe cherimoyas so far, most look tiny still.

Hey Brad, My cherimoya fruit seem to be ripening later this year and I got my first ripe fruit drop from the tree yesterday. My tree is multigrafted so I should have some random fruit ripening from now till next year.

My Dr Whites are usually very late ripening. It’s pretty cool to have mangos, Cherimoyas, Dragonfruit, pomegranates and a few others ripening at the same time. I’m sure there’s going to be some awesome fruit tastings in the near future with many forum members trees starting to get established and starting to produce! I love this hobby!

If this happens, I'd love to be a part of it.  I can bring some Fino de Jete cherimoya, Saijo, Fuyu and Hachiya persimmons, and I've still got some Reed avocados hanging on the tree.  Simon_Grow, those Venus mangoes look amazing! Well done!

First Nata cherimoya dropped in my hand when I was checking.
Will be my first time tasting this variety. Got scion from Behl.
It’s pretty small and round fruit, hope it will ripen alright.

I had Selma and another one ripen early this year, but the others are still not ready. Ones like Fortuna, Leos, Ott, Elixir, Santa Rosa, El Bumpo. Yeah Brad, do it when you can. Thanks

Thanks MasonG31! The Venus fruit have been really good tasting, disease resistant and productive. They are also very good in terms of size.

-FruitFool

FruitFool, I believe that is a Booth. My tree is multigrafted and it was a drop but it looks like a Booth to me.

The Dr. Whites are much larger, have more pronounced scales and have a small pimple/nipple near the base of each scale. My Dr Whites usually ripen closer to December, January or even later.

How do you cut up a Pomegranate like this? Start from the crown or stem (it looks like from the crown)? I always started from the thick skin stem side, but never can cut along the thin membranes like this pic.

Mid November is the best time to pick Pome, as the thin membrane turned to pink from yellow.

You cut the top off then cut along the 6 or 7 ridges on the sides then it pops apart

Yeah, I used a knife to score a circle on the top of the fruit and then applied side pressure to pop off the top. Once the top circle is removed, you’ll see the arils with a membrane going down vertically. Score the rind from top to bottom following the membrane down and then peel apart. This method preserves the arils the best.

Ah, this is the secret. I had cut and enjoys hundred of fruits from our tree but never know this technique. I even had 4 gallons of fruit juice and tried to make wine, but it got spoiled and all waste. Just think about 4 gallons of Pom juice going down the ground.  Thank you guys.

Cherimoyas are getting ripe fast.  Picked 15 pounds today.  You guys want to do it Dec 4 or go for this weekend?  I know its short notice but the thanksgiving weekend is no good so those are my options.  If we do it this weekend we can do it at the top of my property or in the orchard away from the construction work.

glad to see cherimoyas coming online. too bad I have none as my fruits are ripening on the trees of my sold home  :(, will have a solid start in 2022 at new place. I would love to join, but have no fruits to contribute so I can bring Beer  ;D

exceptionally cool October did not help Cherimoya size up and now extremely warm Nov is killing it.
