Ventura, CA largest Cherimoya tree
« on: March 29, 2018, 10:07:28 PM »
That is what the owner says.

I know nothing about Cherimoyas, except for attending a Cherimoya tasting about a year ago.

The tree owner could not give me any information on variety or history.

Nobody hand pollinates it. Only a monkey could pick the fruit.

To me the fruit  tastes as good or better than the best I tasted at Irvine tasting.

Which variety does it look like?

I have been told that it might be Pierce or Honeyheart.

Honeyhart

Lots of early cherimoyas planted in Ventura (Brown Bros, for example) were Booth.  Graft lines disappear over time as does any labeling.  It is increasingly becoming more difficult to recognize and identify older fruiting trees and that could result in incorrect identification as these trees are propagated and reproduced under a different name.

It has impressa skin, could be booth, honey hart, and few others that have that look. Definitely not Pierce which is very smooth skin. It could even be a seedling.
