Tagging onto this convo, I'm wondering if people have prunus mume scionwood. I'd love to add some varieties onto my kanko bai.

How big are the fruits of your kanko bai?  I am interested in grafting a prunus mume onto my peach tree perhaps to make some Japanese style preserved plum(umeboshi). Thanks

Will air layering work on loquat?

Nate, the shape matches some of the Vista White fruits I have seen from nursery and locally. But I'm not sure why some people who grow this variety say the fruit size is small to medium. My fruits are always on the large size. I'll post photo of the I took yesterday of this tree.

Wow the fruits are very big.  How many seeds inside this loquat variety.?  Does any of the loquat variety contain just a single seed?  Friend of mine told me his tree used to have fruits with only one seed from each fruits for years.  Now they have 2 to 3 seeds

Can anyone confirm that pineapple guava can be grafted on regular guava and vise versa?

Doubt it would work. The wood is very different. I don't really see why you would try to graft feijoa to guajava when feijoa is so much more cold hardy, and stout growing. They are straight up bulletproof. My feijoa didn't even blink under snow and weeks of frosty nights, my guajava lost almost 2' of growth during that time.

Now, guajava on feijoa could be interesting, but again, pretty far off wood wise. Feijoa stays wooden whereas guava gets that kinda peeling bark.

I have a limited space.  Besides that I am not too fond with pineapple guava, only can eat a few of the fruits.  It is also not on my must to have lists.

My Persian one just started to wake up a couple of days ago.  My Pakistanian woke up 3 weeks earlier.  They are both on the same tree with Pakistanian rootstock

I started Florida honey tangerine from seed.  It took 10 years to flower and fruit.   This is its 3rd year to fruit.  Fruits are only a third of its parent's size and have lots of seeds.  Flavor was good

It may be two different sources. One is the correct one.

I grow the Persian mulberry, look at my list at the first post which I updated today. I just don't have any fruits yet, but the person who gave me the cuttings says its got the best flavor of all his mulberry. He lives in San Diego and get fruits on his tree, but mine does not have any flowers or fruits yet. Do you grow the Persian?

Yes, a Persian friend gave me a small plant propagated from her tree 2 years back.  It's growing very slow.   Last Fall I took a scion from it and grafted onto a branch of my Pakistan.  The graft is starting to leaf out now.  I heard Persian mulberry supposes to have the best, but create a mess when dropping on the ground since it is extremely juicy

Ana's Siam jumbo fruits look totally different from Janet's.   Nobody grows Persian mulberry in his collections?  No one mentioned this variety

The thai dwarf is ripening here.  My chickens eat them all though which is fine.  I got the other red himalayan setting fruit this year so I can compare the 2 himalayans.  Should be pretty soon.

I bet the eggs your chickens produced are extremely delicious.  Are they free range?

I feed my trees often and give them lots of light.

What kind of fertilizer are you using?

Best variety is Holland papaya, firm flesh and very sweet.   It is from Thailand, most popular and most expensive variety in there.

Yes it is indeed.  My mango's leaves are starting to have this sticky stuff now.  I guess the soil is too wet and too much moisture in the air inside my GH.  It's now 80-90 % RH inside the GH.  Special thanks to Daintree for pointing out the problem.

I sprayed the affected leaves with water until sticky substances started to dissolve.

Thai people do not use juice from the fruits.  We only use it's rinds as part of curry ingredients.

Yes, thanks for correcting me on the Kurokuma seedling graft. I don't think my graft will have any fruits this year, it is still not that large. Hope next year it grows more branches and fattens up.

Kaz any idea what variety is this persimmon?  It does not taste bitter when eating while it is hard.

Thanks Kaz, it is very interesting to know.  On 3rd photo you posted, are both of the fruits soft and fully ripened?

Kaz how can you tell which ones of the Hyakume fruits were pollinated when pick?

23
Kaz, 90% of my AG cuttings I got from you took.  Thanks.

This cherimoya is 13yrs old grew from seed.  It was in a 15gal for 8yrs so it was not grow much.  I had just repotted into a plastic half wine barrel last winter. Before transplant I pruned off lots of its roots. Yes you can say root bound stunts the growth.

You can plant it in the ground and do the espalier
