I'm going to collect any scionwood/budwood of new seedling trees/finds that you may feel tastes very good to excellent, better than any other named varieties you tasted. I will also include any seedling trees that has been growing for more than a few years but not many people know it exist such as the Jaden loquat tree. I also found out recently that the 1Z-2Z has been around and it could be from Jim N.  I will look into this one further and give credit to the proper person.

Also, if you loquat tree shows a different type of fruit shape than normal, it may be of interest to collect. I would like to include any loquats that grow giant fruits, fruits with the eye open more than others, unusual shaped fruits, fruits that bloom more than one time in a year, have multiple crops per year, very cold hardy.

I was hoping to have Adam do this for me (all my seedlings) but that didn't work out. So, for anyone who has found a new seedling tree or has grown a new seedling tree with excellent or unusual fruits, let me know.

What I will do is the following:
1) Collect 2-4 scionwood from your seedling tree.
2) Graft it on my multi-grafted tree (has 84 varieties now).
3  Next year or when it has the first fruits after i graft it, I will document the photo of your fruits.
Take Brix measurements to log into MY comparison table.
4) Since its a seedling, you can also name the new variety and I will introduce your variety here
by ID, photos, brix, and taste comparison to Big Jim.
5) This is open to USA residents only.

This is your opportunity to have your seedling tree (variety) recognized by the loquat collectors in our forum. Once the grafted branches grow, I will try to share some cuttings with the other forum members here. If the fruits end up not tasting good then I will not distribute any scionwood, but instead just cut off the grafted branches after 2 years (fruit twice).

Why would you want to send me free scionwood of your seedling tree?
1. This is a way for you to get your new variety named and spread to other loquat collectors.
2. It will allow you to compare the brix of your seedling variety with all the others I'm growing.
3. Once your seedling variety has fruited and turns out to be a winner, then you can sell your
cuttings for a lot of money like the Peluche loquat (maybe?).
4. When you submit your scionwood/cuttings, let me know if you want to be the exclusive seller
of your seedling. If you do, then I will not share/sell any cuttings from your seedling variety.

If anyone is growing a seedling loquat and it has fruited, please describe the fruit taste and show us a photo of the tree and fruits.

Johnny Eat Fruit:
My Loquat tree has about 10-12 different varieties grafted onto it.

Thus far my early favorite is Chinese seedling #1. This is a premium variety sold in Shanghai china. My wife brought back some seeds and I planted them in containers. I then Grafted them onto my in-ground loquat tree several years ago. The Chinese seedling #1 was a white flesh variety with a wonderful sweetness and nice complexity in the flavor with some acidity to balance out the flavor. This is the first year the graft has fruited and they are excellent indeed and the first fruit to ripen. The best I have tasted so far. Looking forward to tasting Chinese seedlings #2 to #4 which are later ripening.

Johnny,
Your Chinese loquat seedling #1 sounds great, especially from first year fruits.  Look forward to hearing how the other Chinese seedlings taste, please share your results.
