Loquat in SoCal recommendation

(1/1)

poopsiedaisy:
Hello friends! I have a spot in my yard I would like to add a loquat to. Most of my yard is shaded in winter from Nov to February. I'm looking for a loquat that doesn't ripen during these months. I'm getting mixed information regarding when they actually ripen from this forum therefore looking for advice.

I'm in 10a socal, and my local nursery sells big jim, gold nugget, champagne, and macbeth. Thanks!

JCorte:
Big Jim can have both an early and late crop.  Argelino is late season with good size and to me tastes better than Big Jim.  Both are good varieties.

Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't found many other varieties grafted besides what I wrote. I can certainly graft scions later but I want the foundation of the tree to be usable.

What months does early correspond to exactly?
