Simon and all, I pulled the trigger on David's Cane Machine, the Mighty Mini. $1700 including shipping and several spare parts. I've used it a few times already and it's a solid machine. I'm very happy with the machine. I like the quality, all the safety features, and ease of cleaning. It feels like a very safe machine that i would not mind anyone in my family to operate. My father was surprise by how much juice we got out of just a few canes. The spent canes came out very dry. There's no need to run it through the machine more than once. I tried to limit the length of the cane to 1 to 1.5 foot. The reason was that the canes get squeezed so tightly juice literally squirts out the other end of of the cane. The smaller cuts seems to limit this. Not sure if that's normal or due to the cane variety. Also the diameter of the slot for the cane is 2 inches. Make sure that both ends fit through. I had one large cane where one end fit and the other end was quite larger. The cane jam in the slot. This did not effect the rollers at all! But I had to use some pruners to slice up the cane to get it unjam from the slot, only took less than 5 minutes. If you have large cane varieties you will probably have to split it in half. I think the circular slot is a safety feature, looks like you could unscrew it and feed in larger canes if needed but I have not tried this so take this part as a maybe. Solid, compact machine compared to others but weighs maybe 70 or 80 lbs. It feels like this machine will last for many many years. The only major con is that the pricing is not for everyone so you better be juicing quite a bit. My wife goes through a lot of juice so for us I think in a little more than 2 years it will pay for itself, ahaha.
