Start them in a greenhouse and the chances of germinating are good.

Hello, you will need to start them in your house or garage or wherever they can be kept warm like a heat mat and you will get 100% germination. Obviously this is not the ideal time to sprout mangos outdoors but its when my fruit are ready to pick, thats out of my control.

I sold the ones I had. But theres quite a few more fruit on the trees im still picking so theres more seeds coming in the next few days to weeks. I will contact people in order I see them asking.

I had a ton of people all message at once and I ran out but did pick about 20 more mangos today so there will be more seeds soon and I will get back to people in order.

Are sweet tart seeds good rootstock? I'm surprised by the demand. I grafted fruit tart this year, so hoping I get to taste it in the next year or 2.

They're polyembryonic, which makes them a great candidate to grow as an ungrafted tree. A portion of the embryos will be a clone of the original.

Yes it's one of the best tasting mangos and it produces and grows well in CA and come true from seed. It's the total package. This is what people in CA should be growing.

Yes, I agree with Spaugh insofar as Sweet Tart is a great-tasting mano.

I have two tweet tart trees growing at two different locations, both grafted on Manila. The 1st in Alhambra (Very inland and hot) grows and produces well with quality fruit. The 2nd grafted tree on Manila rootstock in the SoCal Coastal Zone in my location in 92647 grows moderately vigorously but has issues with pollination, Powdery mildew in spring and into early summer. The cooler coastal temperatures have a negative effect on the sweet start of Flowering and fruit formation. My tree has overall been disappointing in terms of fruit production for the last several years.

Location, Location is the key. Sweet Tart prefers warmer inland locations. Just my experience and two cents.

Hey Brad, I would love to be added to your list of people seeking seeds of the sweet tart. I too am located in San Diego and have been told by several growers that this cultivar is where I need to start with mango.

All the sweet tart seeds I got from Brad are now seedlings. Most of the seeds sprouted two to three seedlings each. Since it is winter, I used heat mats and clear storage containers to keep the heat and moisture in to germinate.

I tried vertical and horizontal planting the seeds as an experiment and the seeds that were planted vertically seem to have a more vigorous growth. I placed them all directly in potting soil 1 gal container.

The three containers in the front are some of the sweet tart seedlings.
