Maybe you could split your thread in two parts: Short duration vegetable plants and long duration vegetable plants: Carrots, cucumbers, coriander, beans could be this group. On the other group could include Moringa oleifera (whose green pods and flowers are consumed as vegetable), Coccinea indica (the green fruit is consumed in curries or sauté) In this last group the tree or vine survives for long time.
