taking new orders

Any guess on frost hardiness on these? What elevation were they found at?

Beautiful fruits. Thanks for offering this unique opportunity.

not too sure on hardiness but I believe Adam at Flying Fox is growing a Annona cornifolia unprotected so there could be some tolerance of frost in the nutans x cornifolia hybrid.

Taking orders again!

Annona punicifolia (extremely limited) (fruiting tree) - $20/scion - my seeds came from forum member (Lilith-vzla) in 2018 and tree fruited first time this year. Fruit is very similar to the aff nutans (light sweet with carrot/pumpkin flavor)I'm also offering being just a smaller fruit. The growth is somewhat slow and tree is shrub-like. It also has spines that are created from branch die-back. I have two trees growing but only one has fruited. I will label them #1 and #2 if you request both. Scions will come wrapped in buddy tape. I can get different size scions if you want larger sizes just clarify when ordering. I have grafted this to glabra and it grew good at first but has had branch die back. I grafted one on montana that seems to be doing ok just growing slow. I have had more luck using montana and cherimoya for rootstock of these more rare species. I will be adding a few more species. Shipping will be $10 USPS Priority Mail.

Annona sp from Bolivia likely hybrid btw (nutans x cornifolia) - fruiting tree - $15/scion I received budwood from GRIN in 2019 and grafted to glabra. I fruited that in a year and planted the seeds and grew out some seedlings that have started fruiting since last year. The seedlings seem variable in flavor as I have one that is more sweet than others. It has a nice light flavor of carrot/pumpkin. The skin is so thin its not noticeable when eating. Ive noticed that the fruit can continue hanging even when fully colored up and soft and it will allow it to sweeten up more. Trees can be kept smaller and shrublike though they do have tendency to grow longer lateral branches and respond well to pruning. Trees begin flowering after 3 years of age. Fruit can be colors from oranges to red. I have grafted this to glabra, montana, and cherimoya and cherimoya appears to make the best graft.

Annona (Rollinia) herzogii - seeds from RarePalmSeeds in 2019 - Flowered only - $8/scion

Annona salzmannii - my tree came from Berto's fruiting tree - very limited $10/scion - my tree is grafted on glabra. Ive also grafted these on montana. Ive even seen one grafted on cherimoya that may dwarf it but too soon to tell.

Annona muricata 'Whitman's Fiberless' - grafted tree from Flying Fox - $5/scion

Annona muricata - 'Yucatan' - from forum member by way of Frank - $5/scion - no flowers

Annona muricata - 'Yellow' - my tree is from seeds from Australia - flowers only no fruit - $5/scion - leaves have yellow inflections which is supposed to verify it is the yellow variety.

Annona muricata - 'Itabuna' - fruiting tree - $5/scion - my tree is from Berto who had the fruit in Itabuna, Brazil. My tree fruited a couple years ago and it produces an excellent fruit with extremely low fiber. Skin peels off very easy when ripe.

Annona montana - sweet flesh variety from Marcos in Argentina seeds planted in 2019 - no flowers or fruit - $8/scion limited

Annona dioica - I have a few trees growing and they came from two different sources. - flowers no fruit - $12/scion (extremely limited)[/s]

Annona sp 'Cerrado' - seeds from SeedsHunters in 2020 - $15/scion (extremely limited) fruited first time in November last year but fruit dropped and animal got it.

Dream $5/scion
Australian $5/scion

'Kimber red' -$6 my budwood came from MarkLee

 wow, no flowers at 15ft!

 how old is the tree?

the fruit they use in their post is different than the one I saw...pedunculata that i saw posted had a thick rind with red/orange flesh

actually it looks like they use several different species in their post.. brasiliensis, dulcis and a couple others

FYI, I wouldn’t consider this a fruit good to eat out of hand. This is mostly used in cooking to make sour soup and popular in Bangladesh where I grew up.

have you personally tried it? I saw someone post that theirs tasted similar prainiana

I'm looking for this species too.  I bought some seeds from Bellamy a few months ago, and they haven't germinated yet.  I guess I haven't given up on them quite yet, but if they're like other Annonas, my germination rate has never been very high.  I even tried GA3 on one of the seeds to no avail.  But I'll let you know if one of them germinates.  I'm not sure if it can be air-layered or grafted to an Annona, but certainly it can be attempted.

yeah ive tried ga3 twice and no dice...i have a few seeds Ive been trying germinate for a months but not sure if this is one that needs to be very fresh or just very low germination rates.

Best bet would be to search your email and list all the psidiums you've bought. #1 and 2 looks like a P. guavaja or close, #3 and 4 looks like catley, robusta, longipetiolata. Maybe P. myrtoides/eugeniaefolia? I remember he had some of those for cheap. They could be rare species too though no doubt. I don't see much info on Psidium spp Goiaba Da Amazônia, but I'd guess it's a P. guavaja, so could be #1 and 2.

yeah i only got the rare species..none of the ones you listed i know for sure.

I tried to search my old emails but mustve deleted some....I figured i would come here to see if anyone else have grown some out and could compare leaves since they seem fairly unique on some species..

I lost a couple tags and could use help identifying these. One could possibly be Psidium spp Goiaba Da Amazônia...

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Annona deceptrix for sale
« on: September 28, 2023, 07:26:48 PM »

Is it known wheter this species is self-fertile or . . . ?

I'm sure it's unlikely, but is there any sense of this species' cold tolerance?

And lastly, what does it taste like?

Trying to decide if I want to try one of these.

Paul M.

Honestly not too much information out there on this one. I would believe it to be self fertile but don’t quote me on that. There’s an older thread on here in regards to deceptrix and it’s says it was found 1600 ft above sea level and tastes similar to soursop

Grafted temoylata added

nice looking graft! is that 47-18?

Thanks Mike, I think temoylata is interchangeable with 47-18 and red geffner or do I have that wrong ?

I may be wrong but I believe a temoylata is any atemoya x reticulata not just specific to 47-18…

4-5 was a temoylata too I think..Priestly atemoya x  Fairchild Purple reticulata…Maybe Har could confirm.

The Panchadara Kalassa I had from Tropical Acres was one of the best mangos Ive eaten. Its a top tier mango thats very juicy and sweet with some spice. More folks should try to grow this one.

Annona aff nutans - possibly a natural hybrid of A nutans x A cornifolia

SOLD OUT$3ea seed + $5 shipping - minimum 5 seeds. Paypal - (Friends and Family only)
I received budwood from TREC which came from Bolivia.

Fruit has a nice light, sweet flavor. Skins is very thin, and edible.

Tree is slow growing and shrub-like and responds well to pruning.

Ive grown out some from seed and they take from 3-4 years to produce. Ive been able to graft them on montana, glabra, and cherimoya. Ive also pollinated atemoya with this and am growing some out now so should be interesting with hybrids.

Has Pineapple Pleasure fallen out of favor? I haven't seen it mentioned at all this year.

I had a Pineapple Pleasure this year that was one of the best fruits I've ever had. Previously I think the ones I had from other places were picked too early. I believe the Fairchild Mango Festival winner was a Pineapple Pleasure from Tropical Acres Farm.

I got this seedling from FlNative after my original Amber got crushed from a storm. So it’s a seedling of a seedling of Amber. I have since given out seedlings and I know one is flowering now. The fruits on this tree never get over 5lbs.
