Please let me know if you have pencil-sized woods from mature trees available for sale. Thanks.

Only pest problem I have in my greenhouse is slugs. I think the temperature is key - I have it set between 40 to 45F.

Great video as always, Rain. The quality of the material and care in packaging from Kaz is absolutely topnotch - nobody comes close.

I got a big surprise from Kaz here. My first impression of Loquats. Here my review on National, Big Jim and Peluche.

Thank you Kaz!! :D

What's the difference?

Thanks, Bill. I found a source for it. Was thinking of getting a vine or two until I read your description of its taste profile growing in our zone. I used to have a grape vine that produced fruits that tasted exactly like longan. The plant died unfortunately. I was curious if this one really does taste like strawberry.

In my zone they never ripen and are always tart so never had a good flavor. You might be able to get em to ripen alittle better than me in your zone but I think there more of a southern growing grape. In the usa it's called Isabella you should be able to find a plant online.

I fed it a combination of:
• Mustard Oil Cake Powder
• Humus Fish Compost
• Neem Cake

Once a month as soon as you see new growth. Last year was the first year I did this pruning/fertilization regimen and it was the first year my guava tree fruited for me; boy was it abundant.

If fruit setting is your ultimate goal, pruning does work, but don't forget to fertilize the heck out of 'em.

What would you recommend as a fertilization regiment to promote flowering? I have several various guava and have tried tipping the branches multiple times and have only ever had one flower on my Strawberry/Cattley guava, with no flowers on my other various guavas.

I'll make my next purchase through your site instead of your etsy shop to support.

One of my go to place for rare fruit cuttings on etsy. Thank you for making these woods available. Hope your website experience equal success.

thank you for helping to support, I'm trying to move away from etsy for a multitude of reasons. They charge way to much in fees, randomly take down listings, and control the shops search relevancy to a high degree. Its fine if you like to use etsy, but is very restrictive as a seller on there.

again, thank you very much for your patronage.

Now I know where to go for my plant info needs (aside from the TFF of course).

I thought so. Thanks for the confirmation, Jaboticaba45. Can't trust Google on these types of questions.

They are Not compatible as they aren’t even in the same genus :)
We haven’t even got solid data on grafting it to Canistel lol
It’s super overlooked
Hope that helps!

Your right. It's probably a timing thing. I didn't let it sit on the counter or anything. I just chopped it up as soon as it came in the mail.

The pulp can be as good or better than guanabana, but you gotta catch it at the right time. Not a lot of pulp, and can be a lot of work getting it off the beans.

Wow, Bill, for you to get that much of this fruit, there must be something more to it than the one I have tried.

Cacao fruit tastes pretty good
You must not have had a fresh one
If you want a good one you can order from my friend Bryan Brunner - Montoso Gardens
But all in all, not much flesh to eat mostly used for the beans
Super cool anyways
I'll second Bryan  hes an awsome guy really helpful! Heres a pic of my last order from him, they were right off the tree fresh even a bit juicy and tasted very good! Some mango-y some coconutty very interesting flavors between them all. We made hot coco mix with the seeds came out really good I just use a tea strainer to hold the ground nibs.

I tried eating the beans - really bitter, hard to stomach.

I had a good fresh one in Costa Rica many years ago. The flesh was fine but not something I would eat on a regular basis. Has anyone tried making their own chocolate?

Not creamy at all. It was hard, like eating styrofoam!

Honestly I like Herrania more, Jabo is right though they are palatable, shouldnt be insipid or anything like that, maybe yours is too far gone but the pulp looks pretty white and creamy to me

Ah, thanks for correcting my dyslexia, Jaboticaba45 🤣

I always seem to get the crappiest fruits buying online.

It's a cocoa fruit - what chocolate is made from. Taste terrible as a fruit!

Huh?

Not that good at all!

people grow them for the beans, not the fruit, they are a novelty to eat but honestly a pain and not that good

Smell and taste not much better than raw pumpkin. Suckered again!

Luckily, we always get a lot of murky weather comes spring. Certain plants seem to have no problems whatsoever with the sun or water. Like my guava, loquat, wampee, white sapote, jabos, yangmei.... I also notice all of my garcinias have either died or completely defoliated under my greenhouse conditions except for my dulcis (mundu) - these guys can take some abuse.

Yes Make sure to keep them in shade.
I will sometimes place them in the woods for a bit to recover.
Or try to time it when its rainy/gray outside.
Sometimes they do get burnt a bit but then will grow out of it. Not the best practice

That's a great idea. There's always a puddle of water in my greenhouse. Gotta remember that for next winter.

I have started watering them in the greenhouse when I noticed day time temps in the 90s but night temps were still in the 40s. The pots look to be pretty wet. This might have also contributed their demise.

I had pretty bad losses in my greenhouse, especially when it had been standing a few years and flooded off and on. I tried to water the absolute bare minimum in there afterwards. Did you put your plants on pallets or something to get them off the ground? I think it's disease city in an environment like that.

I'm waiting for that cloudy week to save myself some lugging.

Before I made a small shade house with 30% shade cloth all around I used to have sunburn issues, now I move plants out of g.h. into shade house for at least a week then plants can go in ground with no issues!
