why not just grow californica? I have heard they are quite similar
D. texana is good for eating but quite small

I have a seedling tree that's maybe 25yrs old I don't eat fruit much has to be almost rotting before you eat it other wise super astringent!! I mean it will suck the spit out of your month astringent!! Also have seedling from Ed Self from Texas was supposed to be bigger fruit but has grown slow and is still small under 2" tall.
