I've been watching a lot of Gary Matsuoka's videos (
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfqxrNDhwJjXYSG8s4QDaFQ) on youtube recently.
He has a lot of videos about why the potting mix we use is not good for most plants long term.
Therefore, I am trying to recreate a better mix for my pineapples that can last multiple years.
Here is the mix I am thinking about making based on what I've learned from his videos:
35% Peat Moss (7 parts)
45% Pumice (9 parts)
15% Decomposed Granite (3 parts)
5% Horticultural Charcoal (1 part)
I am thinking about also adding the following fertilizers and amendments:
Miracle-Gro Citrus, Avocado, & Mango Food - 1/2 tbsp per gallon
Gypsum - 1/2 tbsp per gallon
What do you all think about this mix? I am also thinking about keeping them all in only 2 gallon containers because the root systems seem to be relatively small and I foliar feed often.
