Can’t really ship well and not common in S. florida, illegal to ship from Hawaii.
You’ll likely need a plane ticket.
I've got xanthocarpa, macrobracteolata, guazumifolia, hirsuta and schlechtendaliana. If others come up, it's on. I am really interested in them. First year leaving them out to suffer the cold and they're champions. Assuredly they'll defoliate but they're not getting damaged beyond leaves.
Looking great! I only have one campomanesia which is aromaticum. Do you know if it's any good? I've stayed away from campos though just cause it's mostly plinias I like.i hear aromaticum is a good one.
But campos vs jabos are like apples and oranges. can't even compare to each other. flavor profiles are way off different. BUT.... BUT.... if you are a guava lover this is something to consider as an alternative fruit to grow.

Excellent write up and review. Based on your description, it sounds like the edibility rating 2/5 bananas is correct on theferns. Although the flavor description sounds interesting, almost enticing, the bitter seeds sound like too much hassle to deal with if you just want to eat the fruit. Images of the fruit cut open show the entire interior is seeds. I will pass on growing this one, but really appreciate the review.
Does a strainer not work? Heat up the fruit in a pot, add sugar, cook down, then pour through a strainer? Maybe cooking the seeds would impart bad flavors. Thanks for the taste report.
Thanks for the writeup
Makes me wonder if it is the one I tried at Fruit and Spice park that was just marked Campomanesia spp. the texture and taste sound similar
There are seed processors for removing them from things like cactus fruit but I think they are a bit pricey
I have gotten some seeds from them (not this species) before and received them timely enough and in good condition. One of them did get confiscated from USDA though so I would just say to be cautionary because I believe they are based internationally in Israel if I recall. Fortunately that was a small order they destroyed but the others made it to California just fine.
Definitely got fruits from the same seller cause i also paid $40/lb lol whats the best method for getting all the extra flesh off the seed ? Trying to plant these ones out
Once you go, I need to know where the good loot spots are but it sounds like they might be everywhere. I want to take a trip to SE Asia before I got to college and hopefully try stuff that are hard to come by here like marang, salak, durian, maprang, etc. What part of Thailand will have maprang? I’m planning to go later this year
all over. you can order from distributors or major fruit markets.
