Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: SoCal Delivery of 2022 Yangmei Second Order
« on: February 22, 2022, 05:05:17 PM »
Hi everyone. Out of all the volunteers so far, is anyone able to deliver to OC? It would be awesome if whoever picks up for San Diego is able to drop-off trees for OC along the route? I  am in Tustin and can be a distribution site for OC. I can also do pickup from LA area if needed.

28
Also, does anyone know where to buy Morella Californica or Myrica Cerifera?  I have not had luck with finding them at nurseries in OC.  Has anyone tried grafting yangmei on Mortus communis or Laurus Nobilis? Not sure how closely related they are, if even at all.

29
Will both Joe and K-Rimes be driving there to pick up or just one person depending on the day the trees arrive? Would it be possible for whoever picks up to do one drop in OC as well? Please pick up my trees as well. Thank you for doing this. I live in Tustin and I know a few folks on here are also in OC area.  My house is about 1.5 miles from freeway 5 so it would be a convenient dropoff point on the way to San Diego for OC folks.  I'd be happy to be a distribution point for those who would like to have their trees picked up and dropped off in OC if Joe or K-Rimes is willing to do that.  Thank you for volunteering your time. I too will gladly pitch in for your time and gas. I also vote for soaking the trees in RO water with B1 during their journey down to SoCal.  I think the trees would be somewhat dehydrated after the days of travel from China.  It would be good to rehydrate their roots with the soaking in water.  After arriving in SoCal, I think they should be kept in moist peat moss until they are picked up. It'd be great to have the inputs and wisdom of others as well.

Thank you Bill. We all appreciate your hard work and all the time you spend on making this group order possible.

31
Bill,

Since the order is closed, when are you planning on putting in the order and what time frame do you think we may pick the trees in the US? Can you please communicate with the sellers to make sure there are no bugs so they don't get held up for fumigation. Thank You.

Bill,

I'm sorry for making a change last minute. I know you're so busy as is, but I would really appreciate if you can please change my Dongfui female to Biqui female. Thank you so much for your time and efforts.

Citrus Buy, Sell, & Trade / Re: Wanted: Kaffir Lime tree or seeds
« on: February 15, 2022, 11:00:05 PM »
Hi. I have the kaffir lime but I don't recommend you buying live trees because of the spread of citrus greening disease. I'm pretty sure that I have seeds if you want to get some.  I have to check my tree tomorrow.

34
Bill,

Please also add (1) Dongfui female to my order.  I've only previously ordered 1 Dongfui male, is that enough to pollinate with An Hai, Black Crystal and Wusu females? Please add any other male variety that you think I still need to pollinate all of the three varieties if you think the 1 Dongfui male is not enough. Thank you and I'm so grateful for all your efforts.

Thank you for all your effort Bill. I would like to buy the following please.  Thank you so much. I'm from Southern California but my brother lives in the Bay area so I will have him personally pick the trees up.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Successful Graft Soursop onto Cherimoya
« on: October 20, 2017, 02:20:08 AM »
Hi all. I did three grafts of soursop onto Honeyhart cherimoya in mid August.  It seems like all three took. The scions were collected from a small seedling soursop. The cherimoya is in ground. Seems like green on green works well. I am trying to grow soursop in southern California so hopefully the cherimoya will give it a few more degrees of hardiness. Will update after this winter. I have seen pictures of a woman who was able to fruit them in the ground in Orange County with winter protection on very cold nights.
