Add gypsum and use epsom salt. Bring down your soil pH. Probably your rootstock is Gomera type, which can take some salts well but your pH is still high.
Why would you spray calcium nitrate of course will burn all new leaves.

It all depends on the branch type to flower.
I grafted them on edulis seedling and they overwintered just fine at very lower temps. Mine in ground outside took small freezing very easily, until a hard froze came -7C and died. Normal -2C in the night and 8C in the day they do just fine.
Another problem in out climates is that is too hot to produce flower, they prefer cool weather. At 35C+ here during the summer they will not bloom.
Why you don't try to grow maypop I find them good tasting and easy to grow.

The tree was undercover and heated probably with a heating cable that means it had a microclimate, then it should survive. To be truly cold hardy should be expose directly to that temperature.

Thank you both for your insights. Yes, this is about adding a dedicated micronutrient regiment. I thought that chelated micronutrients were superior to regular micros due to the added protection in the soil. Of course, I could be completely wrong as well!

I think the pH of the water that gets added will make the difference.

How do you mean? Our water is pretty terrible. 7.4-7.8 PH. My soil PH is usually around 7.2-7.4

Use rain water or bring down the pH when formulating sprays

Coffee arabica nana is a dwarf cultivar for pots, you should try that instead of regular coffee plants

Following few techniques and cultural practices I managed to induce a massive flowering this year on my small satsuma 'Okitsu' mandarin. I hope I will stop the fruit drop and have a  mandarin for every 4 leaves.

of course they will germinate !
I plant my plants outside in ground they survive until first frost in December. They can even take -2C easily. Yes you are right about rootstock I will try that this year.
From seed they will take 2-3 years to make fruit, from cuttings only one year.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / New mango growth damage
« on: May 24, 2021, 06:43:20 PM »
I have a frozen mango that after 4 months started to flush out of dead.
Still new growth gets damaged like blacking.
Could this be from spidermites or a bacterial/fungal problem? I haven't figured out.

61
Bees will do the work. Just watch out different types flower at different times depending on the climate. So you can end up with A flowering but no B flowering. So things get complicated.

I have a good experience with them, but there are different qualities. The ones I have last 4-5 years and what I like about them that they get airpockets and roots don't get round bound.

63
New growth gets damaged.  I can't see any insects.
Is this from spidermites or some fungal problem?

64
I have a plastic foil for 6 years no problem with it.  Here is very hot in summer with temperatures outside at 35C+ for a month or two, and I have like 40-45C in greenhouse everyday, not a problem for more tropical citrus as long as it's humid. Key limes and fingerlimes like it.

65
Check this September with me, I might have some seeds.

It could be a reason, overuse of pesticides. Aslo areas with hot summers have less of a problem.

higher temperatures of 104 F and 114 F, the survival rates decrease by 95 percent and 100 percent

Probably that's why Mediterranean countries are not so infected like Florida. Dry summers with 105 during the day kills the Psyllid.

I have 5 avocado varieties. I keep them in small pots from 15 L to 50 L, they all flower now.
Last year they set fruit but I cut them because the trees are young.
I keep my trees outdoors from last frost to first frost. Then during the winter in as basement or a cold room at 2-10C for 3 months. None died, they do well in cold.

I don't think one needs 200 L container. In Japan they grow it in 70L and get it full of fruits.
I believe your problem is the lack of varieties A and B. And the flowering period. Here they flower now.

Citrus General Discussion / Primo Fiore lemon
« on: May 15, 2021, 06:42:32 PM »
I found in a shop a couple of organic lemons packed with a small twig and a couple of leaves. I couldn't   missed it, so I graft it on citrumelo.

Lemons are juicy and acid, with a good balance. These are from Italy from La Costiera.
Quote
Product description
Biological Primo Fiore lemon is a citrus fruit that has an elliptic form and middle sizes, it presents a light yellow peel very thin and a juice of high acidity.
Lemon Primo Fiore differs from the other citrus fruit for a very intense taste for the presence of high acidity in the pulp and for the abundant juice. The peel is light yellow color, of middle thickness, fine grained, while the maturation of the fruit begins at the end of October and is extended into the first days of April. It presents a middle-big size, it differs for the color, for the thin peel and for the high content of citric acid.

You are allowed to import small quantities for personal use. Endangered seeds and some on the EU ban list are forbidden.

I would provide shadow for the tree, with 60% shadow fabric. A root biostimulator would help with amino acids.
If the trunk is split I would seal it all in parafilm and paint it white.
The new growth came out when the sun is already too strong and the plant can't adapt.
To grow new roots you need foliage to provide sugars so if the new growth dies the tree might die.

72
I have mangoes in 4 gallon containers fruiting about 2 fruits each year. Trimming roots and foliage like a bonsai.
Irwin is very sensitive to cold and anthracnose, and died this year. Because I overwintered them in cold.

You would probably need to trim the roots and the top every 2 years, so some years you will not have full fruit production. I do it this way, a lot of work though. Flying dragon will take 10 years to fill that pot
