What could it be? Found at a chinese grosery store...

I think it is Garcinia madrono

Not Nephelium. Yes looks like madrono (Garcinia madruno). But would help for positive id to see exterior of fruit.

Garcinia Acuminata aka Charichuelo
Garcinia acuminnata and Garcinia madruno look very similar, wtih pebbly yellow skin on exterior. The acumicanta has more elongated elliptical shaped fruits, and the madrono has rounder shaped fruits. You probably are right because the photo looks like elliptical shaped fruits.
