First achachairu
« on: July 30, 2021, 06:56:21 PM »
So after nearly 15 years of divine patience, I finally got to try my first achachairu from my tree.  Very very tasty...just wish I had about 100 more to follow up with.  I also grabbed the last 3 madronos.  They may have benefitted some more days on the tree, but I'm going out of town and did not want them to split, rot, or drop while I'm gone.  They too tasted very nice.  They were much larger, better filled out, and better shaped than the first one.  In case you are wondering, the white fruit on the plate for comparison is garcinia chickeneggulis.

Those look tasty! Congrats!  Hopefully it will flower again in four to six months and produce more fruit.

Where can I buy a G chickeneggulis tree? You know I have garcinia fever  ;)

Wow that's awesome!!

Congrats on the the first fruits of your trees.

Considering you have G. chickeneggulis tree that set out that beautiful white fruit, this must be an eggs-tra special day for you (please excuse the poor pun).

Did you grow your trees from seed and also was there any particular care you gave them?

Both madrono and achachairu came from Bryan Brunner (Montoso Gardens) as small seedling trees.  Special care?  Just patience!

Congrats! No doubt you will get a lot more fruits as the trees get into high gear. Achachairu especially can be incredibly productive when happy. Getting them and madrono to fruit in Ohio is no small feat. Pat yourself on the back!  8)
