Have you read Richard Campbell's list?
Where is that found?

Richard Campbell is the world's top authority on Mango.

ACCORDING TO HIM
;D ;D ;D
Actually he's a humble person. But since you don't know how to locate his publications I'd guess you've never met him or attended the International Mango Festival.

Now, where's this list you've spoken of?  Just say you made that up, or you think or imagine there should be one.  It's ok.

I don't want them to close down an otherwise useful thread so I'll let you off the hook.  If they block me, they're gonna have to do the same to you.

I'm curious to know what's on his (current) list...a link would be helpful.

Back when he was at Fairchild I use to keep up with the "curator's choice" but in terms of flavor, those pale in comparison to many of the others available to us.
To be fair his "curators choice" in Fairchild was not really aimed at the enthusiast. I always appreciated the pragmatism of that list though.

I haven't had many samples from mangomen homestead but the multiple names makes it hard to keep track

MANGOMEN?
I have been to their farmstand and they sell mangoes picked WAY TOO EARLY.
Zero blushing rock hard mangoes both times I visited. Before someone says THOSE ARE MATURE GREEN. I Know what mature green is and these are just green.

Also I have questions about the where the mangoes they sell come from. They claim that they grow them all right there but the trees are in the backyard of a quarter acre residential lot and the trees are all 5' tall. How do they SO MANY CASES every weekend all season long. I am certain that they resell other peoples mangos and claim that they grew them.
BEEN READING FORUM FOR YEARS -RECENTLY REGISTERED

17 Mango cultivars at home, plus dozens of anonnas, avocados, guavas, lychees, and other fruits.

Hobbyist beekeeper and chicken person, amateur ecologist and pomologist. Easily amused but I probably like plants and animals more than people.

You don't sound like you know Dr. Campbell or Mango Men too well.

I go nearly every week all season, have for years.

Wide range of mangoes, many new to me.

I've obtained underripe mangoes from many sellers. Doesn't mean that is what typically occurs. Could trash talk plenty, but it would be trash.

Dr. Campbell definitely knows how to properly grow and ripen mangoes.

Most if not all on this forum would get slapped down in a mango brawl.

Having spoke with Dr. Campbell about his favorite mangoes or "list," he shared with me that he "loves them all."

LOL

Of course it is bullshit, but he really does appear to love all kinds of mangoes.

As for him stating he is the authority on mangoes, I have never heard such from him. He is knowledgable, experienced, and thankfully opinionated about his career and passion.

Perfect.  That's about as close to a list as we're gonna get!  But to be fair, Chris Wenzel of Truly Tropical seems to love all kinds and won't name any as her favorites.

No, I haven't read Dr. Campbell's list. Can you give us a link or post the list in this Forum?

I used to read his preferred varieties under his "Curators Choice" back in the days when he used to work for Fairchild Tropical Garden. I was not a fan of many cultivars he venerated and published in Fairchild's website for several years. I also understand that he had limitations finding exceptional varieties from all over the world while working in Fairchild. He and Gary both tried  to collect bud wood from SE Asia few times and obtained few good ones. But few SE Asian varieties grew well in Florida and SoCal as good as they taste in their native condition. Most of them failed to exert their own great flavor though.

I only got one box from him.
So far the only excellent Malikas I got was from him and my dad.
If I was in Miami during the season I'd certainly buy from them though.
I had quite the glut in the last 2 years from myself and nearby forum members.
Working down my 50+ collection to something more reasonable like 20.. Maybe 30

I think 20 to 25 mango tree's would give you a very broad spectrum of the flavor profiles.
I would be interested in knowing which ones that you may remove hopefully not Zinc. Maybe some of the old school commercial varieties.

Am curious what is a mango brawl? Is it like a snowball fight?
Your devotion to mangomen is impressive. You go nearly every week of the season and have done so for years despite your own trees at home?

On the discussion about Cecilove, this year they tasted more like Zinc than Sweet Tart, which was the opposite in prior years. Nothing wrong with that of course because Zinc is superb (when ripened properly).

And as an all-around tree (not strictly flavor), Cecilove is superior to both

Another Indochinese hybrid type that impressed was 34-15. AlThough the fruit came out really small.

Apologies to fellow forum members and TFF cruisers for derailing this thread...

Just telling it like it is fishy. I like mangoes and fruits from many growers. I would visit Alex every week if I lived near TAF, and if in Pine Island or Bookelia, would go see awesome growers I know there, and whoever wherever. Would be bugging Adam if I lived in Orlando area. Mike in Palm City or wherever the heck he is. I bug Brad for fruit from CA on a regular basis, and he lives nowhere near me. Could go on and on.

...and yes I grow mangoes, and a lot of other things. Never seem to have enough though.

As for "devotion" to MangoMen, you humor me with your insinuations. I do have respect though. Perhaps something which you may be lacking.

It is a ton of fun hanging out and tasting mangoes and sharing plants and stories with cool people who love and know fruit. I do it as much for the interaction and information as for the fruit and plants. I'm sure many of my friends and fellow forum members would love to be able to meetup like this. I feel pretty lucky to be honest.

Afterwards, nothing like sharing new, classic, rare, and tasty mangoes with family, friends, neighbors, and clients. Can't seem to get enough of that experience.

I happily drive over weekly to get additional and different fresh fruit while I can. That's so weird, especially for someone like me on a fruit forum. LOL

Oh, and a mango brawl is nothing like a snowball fight.  Cool people hang out and pass around tasty mangoes and share good times together. It's actually really cool. Much better than snowball fights.

What are you basing this ridiculous accusation on? Just your impression of how much growing space someone has?

It is reasonable to have questions, but to publicly accuse someone of impropriety based upon your ignorance is sad, and all too common.

Those are all really nice choices Bovine. If you change your mind, would liked to know what new choices are taking the lead. List should continually change.

Are those the Pitons depicted in the art piece? Reminds me of Soufriere St. Lucia.

fishy's lack of response is another indication they are full of crap.

I hope 2022 is another good year for mangos in SoFlo so we can have a mango tasting social for local members.  SoCal members shouldn't have all the fun.  If Satya's not traveling, he's cool with using his place across the canal from Greynolds Park, NMB.
