Hi guys,
i am writing here instead of private messaging you all individually,: abemael777, hammer524, Cerkat, BluMalibu, K-Rimes, Polypterus , all who joined in to make this sub-group with me to help with the order. I learnt from Ryan (jaboticaba45)  late last night that i was not included in the order. Some of you were wondering why so i want to make it all clear here. Together we had over 30 species and i was one of the early ones who had contacted him with the order, plus i had sent our final order in a timely manner and did not make any late changes so i was not eliminated on those grounds. I was eliminated because my order(combined with you all) was too large and Ryan has exams coming up and it will be hard on him. I had organized all of you 6 in a nice excel sheet and made sure that Ryan gets a single order from me so he would have to deal with one person and not 7. Also if he had asked, i could have taken responsibility for the whole 15 people because organizing is not a big deal for me but it was not communicated to me from the very beginning. Plus i diid not know the inside arrangements with the seller and the permit provider.

I am disheartened like all of you are, and apologize to all of you for this. I have no experience with buying from this seller and Brazil and with the permit so if any of you have a seed import permit and want to help me out with that, will be much appreciated. This has been a good learning experience for me. The initial idea was to get more plants for my food forest but the feeling of helping this community of forum friends seeped in me. If any forum friend has permit and want to help us and be added in the group please step forward and let me know. If you have communicated with the seller before: K-Rimes you speak Portuguese so would you be able to ask seller if we can send the order today? we have our individual orders in our group of 7 all organized so this will be fast. I am also ready to embrace friends who have been left out from the original Ryan's order.

I will start a new topic with for this order if a permit comes through. Forum member Daintree had mentioned having a permit so i will contact her but someone local here in South FL will help cut the shipping prices if i find one. Let's all cross our fingers and make this happen!!!

I just sent out our order to seller.
I again apologize to everyone who didn't make the order. Especially sorry for Satya's group. But am glad that you are planning to do an order and hopefully can get more people in and spread some seed out! I wish the best to you all.
Best,
Ryan

I just reached out the USDA and asked about whether they would refuse entry to seeds that have germinated in transit.

Ultimately they said that it would be circumstantial and they would have to see the package before making a decision, but, to look at the USDA's plants for planting manual and see if the plant has a restricted live plant material status.  Eugenia spp. is one of the species that is restricted entry.  So be careful if planning on going through the USDA permit system.

Price of phyto, shipping, and his paypal fee (added up and divided by 7)
Price of my time and shipping
And paypal fee*

Let me know of any questions or concerns.

Hard to calculate the price and worth of your time this far in.

Yeah totally understand,
I figured that an extra $7 is fair to cover my time and shipping supplies.

Thanks everyone for being quick to pay. Just waiting on 1 more person. Trying to pay asap - 2 of the seeds have already gone out of season. Luckily they were replaced with some similar stuff. (If this happened to you, you would have been notified.)

Just wanted to give a quick update.
Just had the first final and I feel great about it. Thanks for the support!
Anyway,
The main reason is to update you guys that seller will ship no later than next Wednesday. I expect the seeds to arrive in about 2 weeks (around a week and a half from Brazil then another couple of days to me). So the seeds will arrive around Christmas? Not a good time still trying to figure out what is best. USPS is already screwing up my packages. Little worried about the seeds taking more time when I ship to you.

If you can keep them on vermiculite with a little water that should be fine and maybe even germinate along the way,

I can send a little $$ to buy a bag of vermiculite if needed-

P.S. good luck with the final

Just ordered some.

Well done! I'm sure you did great.

Everything arrived clean and germinating last time from André, though it did take twice as long due to mail issues at the time. However, end result was great! Everything is still alive and he was really cool to work with. Thanks for getting this going Ryan!

Hello all,
I apologize for the delay in shipping. Seller hasn't shipped yet, but everything is ready to go. We are just waiting for them to get the phyto approved.
I expect them to be shipped in no more than a week. Probably less.

Hello and Merry Christmas,
we've encountered a slight problem in the order...the seller hasn't sent all the seeds we ordered. We ordered 602, but he is only sending 566. I've reached out to the seller earlier this week about the problem and he said he will get back to me. I'm asking for a refund for those seeds, and if your seeds were not sent, you will get a refund. Not too worried as it is only ~40 seeds total. For example, 2 people ordered 10 each of a species, but he only sent 10 seeds total, not 20. I'll do my best to make things right.
Best,
Ryan

How's this going for you guys?

Just got a call from USDA that i'm not allowed to have seeds shipped in a vermiculite medium. They are also going to destroy any seeds that are germinated.  Further, the original hardcopy phytosanitary certificate needs to be included.

Best of luck to you guys, hope you are luckier than me.

nattyfroootz,
Thanks for the update.
According to the tracking it seems like it has cleared customs just don’t know if they burned the seeds or not…fingers crossed. I believe the seller does ship in vermiculite. The seller did ship with phyto so I assume it was included in shipment lol. I hope the seeds aren’t starting to germinate…people who have ordered from him before said that the seeds they received were germinating. Seems like USDA is getting even more strict. When I was reading about small lots of seed import it seemed like they just wanted the seeds sent without a medium in a bag? Makes no sense as they’ll die? I wonder if it depends on the port of entry as the USDA officers could be varying in strictness? I’ll keep everyone updated when it arrives.

Yeah it seems a little strange that they aren't accepting any medium, as I have called in on a previous seed order to ask about the inclusion of a medium.  I had gotten no push back, and even received a call from the office saying that, "my seeds looked really cool."  It might just be the officer, but, we'll see.

I've got some work arounds to try and make this still viable, but we'll see.

Did you have your address on the package as well as the Yellow and Green Label? Cuz if so, that bypasses the inspection station usually. Which is the incorrect way to do it, but customs usually seems to think it's a pass because it looks official, I think.
