Abiu tree FL help

I was hoping I could get some words of advice for growing this tree in FL. Ive had good success growing many fruit trees in FL.. but I've managed to kill all of the abius I've planted so far. 3 in total. They seem to take a hit when the weather is cold.. then slowly die the following months. I love this fruit and would like some advice. I don't want to give up.

I watched a video where a guy said his abiu was dying, and he put a whole bag of organic compost on it, and it was flushing new growth
